I was there until about 8 minutes remaining, but then my ride, who NEVER leaves early, said he just couldn’t take any more, so I had to go.

Worst game of the DD era, hands down, as far as I’m concerned.

We’ve become one of America’s worst Division One “power conference” football programs. Tom O’Brien, like George W. Bush, is long gone. The current folks in charge will eventually have to be held accountable.

For those of you wanting a bowl this season, ANY bowl, you need not worry, because 6 wins should be in the bag with Wake Forest on our home schedule. Anything more than that (6 wins), though, is unlikely. We could win the Tech game, however, mainly because it’s here, and partly because they’re so unpredictable and give up lots of points. The final game, however, is ours to lose, and I think we will do just that.

For the first time in over 20 straight seasons, I won’t be buying any more football tickets next year. But for those of you who do fill the seats, I hope for your sake that the geniuses who schedule these games will find a better time of year to schedule State-Carolina in 2015. Thanksgiving week when the students are away? Ridiculous. Whatever happened to the middle of October?

I’m really disappointed that our football program has reached the point at which large numbers of our fan base celebrate a 6-win season with gusto. If we were Arkansas, I wouldn’t be saying that, but over all the years I’ve watched ACC football, and that goes back to the early 1960s, I have never seen ACC football in as sorry a shape that it’s in now. Us included.

And the worst thing about all this is that in spite of all the money that keeps flowing into our program, we still can’t seem to put a product on the field that can compete with even the middle half of this “new and improved ACC”.

Bielema may be winless in the SEC, but the reason isn’t because he’s done a bad job. There isn’t a .500 team in the country this season that’s anywhere near as good as the Razorbacks, and certainly not the Wolfpack. Mississippi State will have their hands full this Saturday in Starkville, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see an upset here. Arkansas would walk the ACC Coastal and would be a genuine Atlantic contender.

Also, I wouldn’t be surprised to see an upset in Syracuse this Saturday. Eventually the Pack’s got to win an ACC game, and this one could be lucky #13. They can’t keep losing forever.

In the unlikely event of UNC being stripped of any ACC titles, they’ll simply be vacated.

The PNC ceiling rafters will remain as is.

The more things change, the more they more they remain the same.

Let’s all get up and dance to a song that was a hit before these coaches were born.

Though they were born a long, long time ago, oh oh, these coaches should know, oh oh, these coaches should know, woe woe, these coaches should know….

    You want meaningful numbers?

How about Seven-Eleven? Seven players suspended Saturday; 11 straight ACC losses.

Just wondering- would these players have been suspended had they been seen on a rifle shooting range, at an NRA meeting, or had been caught drawing a picture of a gun while in class?

    Just wondering.

“We’re simply not a program that can fire a coach after two years and expect to upgrade.”

And therein lies the problem. We are a program that kept its last 3 coaches for at least 5 years each, knowing full well during most of those lengthy tenures that these coaches were not going to significantly elevate the level of Wolfpack football beyond mediocrity. But we stayed the course and kept ’em anyway.

Now, we’re two years into what many if not most Pack fans would consider yet another coach fail, but dammit, we’re determined to pound this square peg into that round holem so we’ll just gonna keep hammering away for another 3 years. Or 4. Or whatever.

Tom O’Brien didn’t win any popularity contests with Wolfpackers with his boring brand of football, but NCSU football under TOB wasn’t firmly entrenched with Wake Forest as the ACC’s doormat program. Now it is.

Somewhere out there, a football coaching staff that could turn this program around is lurking, but as long as fatcat Wolfpack administrators continue to roll in WPC monies, why should they abandon their comfort zone with any drastic changes?

There is no Division One football program in America that gets less bang for the buck than the one here in Raleigh.

Greywolf, I think both our entire games vs GSU and ODU were WTF games.

As far as where we go from here, we’ll probably win at home Saturday, then lay some more eggs when we go on the road vs Louisville and Syracuse. Then we’ll rebound against GT because it’s at home (maybe a win, maybe not), then we’ll likely beat Wake here, and we’ll finish out the season with another road loss at UNC. We’ll end up either 7-5 or 6-6.

I’d love to be optimistic about our program, but I just don’t see us rising above anyone in the league except maybe Wake, BC and Syracuse, and right now we haven’t been consistently beating any of these schools except at home. Until we get a real DEFENSE and a real QUARTERBACK, we’ll continue to be mired in mediocrity.

I’m in no way attacking our current QB, who put the team on his back vs FSU. But I think he’s primarily a running back who’s trying to be something he’s not. Same problem is going on in many other places, most notably at Michigan.

The Clemson game was more than a smack in the mouth; it was more like another big nail pounded into the coffin of what once was a competitive football program. I haven’t see one thing so far this season that makes me think our program is going down the right road.

Fans rushing the field at Carter-Finley isn’t likely to ever be a problem again. What WILL be the problem is fans rushing the exits at C-F.

Our goalposts are as safe as gold in a depression.

When the opposing 3rd string QB gets to play the final 8 minutes of the game, that says it all.

And why in the world was our 1st string QB on the field during that stretch anyhow? Didn’t we learn anything from last season about QB injuries?

Wolfpack football may not beat anyone else this season, but it sure beats the hell out of me!

Most of us agree on Clemson scoring a lot of points.

The uncertainty is whether or not State will score a lot of points. I have a feeling we won’t. I hope our defense shows up.

I was at the game, and our fans were booing FLORIDA STATE, not the players, because they kept pulling that stunt over and over. Soccer deals with this very differently; if a player goes down (and it’s usually a fake) when the other team is moving the ball, the refs let them play on. In other words, if the defense wants to play a man down for that play, then let them do so.

The NCAA needs to keep the “injured” player out for the entire possession. It’s ridiculous to pull a player out for a play when his helmet comes off, especially if it’s yanked off.

After watching this program for the past 20+ seasons, I’ve come to the conclusion that I just don’t like the FSU approach to the game of college football. Bad player behavior off the field is of no consequence (as evidenced by Jameis Winston’s presence on the sidelines vs Clemson), and dirty play is ok since they’re better than most all their opponents and can more than make up the penalties on our next play. This “injured player” stuff is simply another tactic from the FSU “Win At All Costs” playbook.

Now we’ve also got Miami football and Big East basketball to deal with in this “new and improved ACC”. It seems that we’ve become our own worst enemy.

There is a LOT of football remaining in this season. Before we canonize or crufify Doeren, we need to see how the next 5 games pan out.

I seriously doubt Michigan will be looking for another mid-major coach, which would probably rule out Doeren since he’s coached more games at Northern Illinois than he has here so far. The only two coaches who should be on the UM radar are named Harbaugh and Miles.

As far as Kansas goes, I can’t imagine any sane coach who would want the KU job after national coach of the year Mark Mangino’s ouster following an 8-game losing streak. That would be like Duke firing Coach Cut if the Devils failed to win again this season. KU has had AD problems plus it has Jayhawk basketball to contend with- not a happy football environment if you ask me. I would be shocked speechless if Doeren went there, no matter what happens the rest of this season.

And if for some reason Doeren does leave NCSU, I hope to goodness Charlie Weis isn’t the replacement!

We’re the Red, White and Black from NC State.

And if these colors don’t work, tomorrow we may be the Scarlet, Cream and Brown from NC State.

And if THOSE colors don’t work, then the day after tomorrow we may be the Green, Purple and Gray from NC State.

    Seriously……………

Guess you heard by now that the PC Police have made sure that Winston doesn’t play tonight. Season-ticket holders, get ready for some SUN next weekend. Hell, maybe we could WIN next week if they can invent a few more reasons for Winston to be held out of the NCSU game.

This social media assault on football is almost as troubling to me as the “state” of NCSU football these days.

Auburn plays K-State tonight, not next week. However, the national schedule is a poor one for headliner games next weekend, and the College GameDay could indeed land here next weekend.

Clemson has runied a lot of things in the past for Wolfpack football. Jameis Winston has already gotten himself benched for the first half of Saturday night’s game at Clemson. If you’re a season-ticket holder, you’d better root like hell for FSU or else you might be roasting in the sun next Saturday for yet another 12:30 kickoff.

It seems to be this way all the time for State football- we’re always one game away from the big-time, and always trying to dodge noon kickoffs and local coverage.

Barring another first quarter performance like the one in Tallahassee last season, it would be a positive if CGD does come here.

Also, is the Clemson-FSU game on ABC a split telecast, with the western US getting another game, or does the entire nation get this one?

The game Saturday will tell us more about this season than the first two games and the next one combined.

It is almost imperative that this team and coaching staff win a road game, now.

“A one point win over them (Georgia Southern) doesn’t seem so bad.”

What would someone think, if they’d last been inside Carter Finley Stadium in the early 1990s, of seeing the Wolfpack in black last night, the opponent’s band performing at halftime, and Pack fans generally pleased despite having been pushed around most of the game by Old Dominion?

Welcome to the new and improved ACC.

Where in the world will we be 20 years from now?
