Thanks, looks like I’m going to have to replace the laptop which is always fun. Add on top of it kids basketball most of the morning and time just slipped away.
There’s zero excitement in watching us play this horrible Hokie team but I’ll still watch.
Rye, I’ve been looking at the very same thing and have run into the same problem that no one records who makes the foul call so you’re left with a team of officials to get the numbers from and that makes it impossible to see how many fouls a ref actually calls.
I’ve got another scenario that most people don’t think about where they will call roughly even fouls for not only the team but the star players and can still effect the outcome of the game. You call quick fouls early in each half on one star player and reduce his playable minutes and wait until the end of each half to whistle the other star player. One can play without fear of committing a foul and being sent to the bench. The other, when he’s on the court, has to play in fear of picking up another foul, thus hurting not only his defense where he gives up easy baskets but also can’t afford a cheap offensive foul either.
Don’t forget the ACCT and the Karl Hess tribute by Luckie, Eades, and Clinton. If people think Officials don’t carry grudges then they haven’t been paying attention.
I’m sorry ldr but that’s not how it’s supposed to be, State was the better team tonight even if they weren’t a great team. They played better than SU just enough to go into their place and walk out with a close victory. Then the f’ing refs took that away.
I was all prepared to have a ho-hum day after losing but this shit still gets under my skin and pisses me off, even after I’ve learned to not let the games effect me this way. I’m trying not to let it ruin my night but it’s not working.
How about the fact that SU had 4 fouls in the second half leading up to that foul against TJ. If they would have called any fouls on SU then he’d be shooting 1-and-1 at the very least.
Once again the acc hurts the entire league to benefit the chosen few. Syracuse is guaranteed a #1 seed. We needed that in a big way to get on the right side of the bubble and more teams in the NCAAT means more $$$ for the acc as a whole.
That ref waited until the basket went in, looking back at it, before he called it off.
Such a screw job.

13OT, how exactly does UVA beating Clemson help State’s NCAAT chances?
To me it actually hurts State because State has already played and lost to UVA so that doesn’t help. State still has to play/beat Clemson and if Clemson won today that would give them a higher RPI before State plays them. State needs a win at Clemson period and beating a Clemson team that just beat UVA is better than beating a Clemson te that just lost.

It’s amazing how close the final stats are but the score is so far apart. This is what happens when Refs interject themselves into the game, as was the case in the second half.

How freaking stupid is it for ESPN to “evaluate” teams for the NCAAT by their BPI when the NCAAT doesn’t even use it in the official evaluation.
ESPN pays Lunardi to make projections, but they don’t seem to want to talk about him. Then on Selection Sunday they let the 3 Stooges (Digger, Knight, and Vitale) talk instead of someone (on the payroll) that has studied the selection process.
Oh well, if they actually did a good job, then I wouldn’t have as much to write about.
