You guys are going to see just how crazy I was in getting this information.
Go to Stat Sheet for NC State basketball, then the boxscore for each game, look at the game flow to find the points of the game. If you want to check the times for better accuracy go to play-by-play to verify the times. Then you just go game by game, season by season.
Thanks for the post! Would be really interesting to see when State had a 10+ lead after the half. If you jump out to 13-2 three minutes into the game but the game immediately settles into a seesaw battle, that is entirely different from blowing an 11 point lead with three minutes to go.
Click on the links with the times and you’ll see at what time in the game State was up or down by 10 points, what time was the largest lead, when the lead disappeared, and how long it took to go from the largest lead to nothing. That should answer your question.
I don’t dig into the stats like 1.21JW does, but it looks to me like all of the talk about improved defense was just that…more talk.
I’ve been looking at the last 10 games (prior to the ND game) and have found 2 things:
1. State’s defense has not improved.
2. State is a #50 team. The loses are against Top 50 teams (minus Duke) and the wins are against 75 and up.I’m looking at individual efforts during wins and losses and looking at it from up high Washington, Abu, and Caleb Martin are the only ones playing better offensively (on average) against the top 50 competition while Lacey, Anya, and Freeman are struggling big time and the rest are simply playing worse.
For the team (prior to ND) their Defensive Efficiency is awful, they are giving up 1.01 pts/poss in the Wins and 1.15 pts/poss in the losses during the 10 game stretch from Tennessee to Miami (National Average is 1.01 pts/poss). Calling this an improved defense is a lie, they loaded up their defensive stats on easy early wins. Calling it a bad defense is an insult to bad defenses.
As much as I want State to be on the better end of the FT Rate, I believe it’s more important for State to draw fouls early and often to get the opposition’s players into foul trouble and force them to be less aggressive in order to continue playing. Doing this will allow State’s offense easier opportunities to score and that’s more important.
this can be the type of game that sends a season into the death spiral when you consider what happened last game.
Yeah, I’m glad I can’t watch weeknight games on the ACCN, I can’t take anymore of this choke job shit.
