Looking at the bright side, with the weekend off, the team will have extra time to prepare to go all the way in the tourney. That’s been the plan all along. They’ve been saving it all year so that they could unleash it in March.

    Yeah!

What if they “go on a run.”?

Lover boy is looking forward to no stress and plenty of trim from the 35-48 year old crowd of ladies. You know the kind I’m talking about, errored in marrying their college sweetheart, pumped out a kid or two then realized they’d married a real turd. Started taking care of themselves, stable professionally thanks to Steinem and crew, intentional in their tastes, French bikini waxing-nice landing strip, socially adapt but distant from the moral standings of their mother and grandmothers; Gott is going to plow hard and deep.

He is ready to have this over and done because his fun has just begun.

And I bet he plays golf too.

    McC,

Somewhere, I remember a person….theologist or maybe a Debbie Downer….preparing a list of the 12 Points of the “Anti-Boy Scout Law”. Can’t find it…but you can probably make up your own with the help of google

    http://www.boyscouttrail.com/content/content/scout_law-1760.asp

Since Trustworthy is the first point….use the phrase…”antonym trustworthy”

Survey SAYS…..Unreliable… I had an HR guy that would “rank” my job candidates on a scale of 0 – 12. Sarcastic SOB, but funny. He used the BSA Law…. I got one resume from him….”This is YOUR GUY”….Perfect 12. He would read the fluff in my resumes and form his own opinion. He was right about that one. We interviewed him, but never hired him. He was a role model for Dudley DoRight….except, when quizzed, he was more like Dudley DoNOTHING. He is probably still living with his mom and traveling around the country participating in all the “moral marches”. Really brilliant person…just a bit “Misguided”….

If I were to “rate” your post….I think that you probably ticked off all 12 of the Anti-BSA Law Points….This is what happens when there is NO NEWS on a coaching choice…Sometimes you amaze even me….and that gets harder and harder as I age and “have seen it all”…

YES, Gottfried DOES play golf. He was handing out calling cards with his cell # to the pretties that were driving golf carts and doing other things that eye candy young lassies do at the Prestonwood Jimmy V Charity Event. THAT was the first “indication” that things were not as they seem. THAT was reported to the home office….whether he GOTT to visit the principal’s office after the hall monitors (MANY of them) turned him in…. I know not….

We shall see if the multiple night bookings for the NCSU tribe in Brooklyn will be cancelled late next Tuesday….

Suggest you tune into Fox today and watch the Ladies and the “Cards”. No issues about Hookers or quickies in restaurants with the Lady Cards and Coach. Should be a good game. We are an underdog….but you never know.

    Outta here….

See, maybe that was the trouble. Mrs. Gott tennis’d and golf and tennis don’t mix. I was a tennis, my ex-wife a golf. Completely different mindsets.

I’m a fisher, my wife a shopper, completely different mindsets, it makes things work. Its what one does while the other does that gets or Gott you trouble. I truly hope this team tries to win one (tournament) for the fans. Obviously winning one for the ole ball coach is less than cliché. And I hope Gott gets over ego trip and plays Anya. Its a shame what he has (is) doing to Anya since his firing was announced. Sure there is more to it than Anya smart mouthing Gott but from the reaction of the team by supporting Anya during senior introductions, Gott lost more than the game.

The guy is a first rate louse, and I don’t mean Mac. Questioned the hire but knew it wouldn’t pan out after meeting him twice. No business in Raleigh. Get out. I’m proud that my support of Wolfpack athletics did not benefit that turd.

It was easy to see the train wreck coming if you know anything about basketball.
Not to mention Gott has the morals of an alley cat.

Now that he’s divorced and his kids of college age or beyond, he’ll be rich, not have to work, in shape and is a smooth talker. McC’s lifestyle doesn’t sound so bad to me if that were my situation.

Gott was a horrible hire from the start. Some of us were vocal from the second it was announced. What amazed me is how long it took for many to see it.

The ladies just lost a heart breaker. They were all over Louisville….up 14 or so. Coach Walz did his best Mikey and Roy routine. The fouls were 1 each…total of 2. THEN the calls started NOT going our way. The whistles tweeted. Our lead melted. Can’t remember exactly, but I think that we got 6 fouls called in the last half of the 2nd Quarter.

It was nip and tuck during the second half. We had players in concussion protocol and NO fouls. There was a CLEAR Last Touched by Louisville in the last 2 minutes….that was called the OTHER way…and you could see it clearly. Refs did an Official Review. BLACK ball (Louisville).

We, however, could NOT hit a FT at the end. We left about 3 or 4 points on the table. We tried a buzzer beater down 1, got the rebound….NOT TO BE. BUT those missed FT’s sure look large now.

Will have to wait a WEEK before we know who our NEXT opponent is.

Heck of a season….about the only joy in Mudville.

Not sure what you mean. In Russia all the news is positive and the future is always bright. You don’t finish last. You come in at a strong 16th place.

But just to be clear on my initial comment: read with a dose of sarcasm, the most positive comment becomes fused with cynicism.

I don’t know about the Boy Scout non sense and I’m really not blasting Lover Boy for pounding it when he can get it but a couple of things:

    1) people want to be flattered
    2) flattered people believe bullsh.it
    3) flash is fleeting.

Sometimes the old standards carry the day: work hard, work smart, put in extra time, go the hell home at night and avoid decaf.

Pretty good recipe for steadiness in all things.

yeah those damned 4 straight years of making the tourney and getting the sweet 16 two of those times while the rest of us (who are geniuses and KNOW basketball) were shunning him like a turd out of water during those years… bunch of fools to think he was any kind of decent during that time.. anyone with a brain could see he was headed straight for a 4 win ACC season a few years later

Good point troll, he just lost focus of what needs to go into what hole in which area of his life.

Troll: Go find the posts from the hire. I recently pulled up and email I sent to packi when we made that hire. Pretty much nailed it.

Year one was Gott’s best year. It was also the year Harrick was most active, he inherited a strong team, there was a lot of focus, and he was on an incentives heavy contract. So I hoped after year 1 I was wrong.

Just like with Lowe it was obvious very early in year two which way it was going to go. The guy just couldn’t run out front. There are just some that can’t.

Gott has won and put together multiple runs at 2 P5 schools now.

Not a whole lot of coaches can say that. He did well initially and even though his second season the team underachieved, we didn’t collapse totally.

In years 3 and 4 – with pretty much his guys, he had decent years. But in these first four years, it appeared he had a clear and defined ceiling – in no small part due to his teams attention to detail on the defensive end.

So, for me – at that point – his performance to date merited at least 2 more years. Year 5 wasn’t good – but in general, the team competed.

Personally, I viewed year 6 as the indicator in whether Gott could ever get us to turn the corner from bubble team, to P5 national title and conference title contender. I figured deep down that we would end up on the bubble again thanks to mediocre defense. I was not looking forward to the wolfpack civil war – between those saying 5 tourneys in 6 years and those saying 17 years experience and hasn’t built or sustained anything special. (Both of which would have been undeniable.)

Sometimes – you get your answer gift wrapped for you. I don’t think Gott’s offcourt behavior helped him either. If you are going to preside over a sinking ship – you should at least be able to show that you do not deserve a mutiny.

Yow was fair in this. Like the DD hire – there were clear red flags bringing in Gott. Unlike DD, these flags were not a lack of experience or also indicative of very poor personal behavior. Whereas DD can be given a chance to pick up the pieces with a few bad breaks, with Gott it was clear that this was all part of a trend. A guy who could coach and could turn around a team’s fortunes, but someone incapable of sustaining them and building on them.

As I understand it (from a pretty good source) this decision went over Yows head, she wanted to keep him, but people above her had had enough. And yes the off the court stuff did play a factor in it. No way it couldnt have. She in a sense gott caught with her pants down with no plan in place when Armstrong when public with his story.
