UNC will score 120 on a Keatts-coached NC State. Maybe we’ll get 90.
If we lose by 30 instead of 51 that’s an improvement.

03/17/2017 at 6:20 PM #120953pakfanistanParticipantIt is only a verbal offer…
Bro, nobody turns down NC State.
03/17/2017 at 6:25 PM #120955packof81ParticipantSounds like it’s a done deal. Hope Keatts can get it done.
03/17/2017 at 6:28 PM #120956TheAliasTrollParticipantMedia stroking the hire hard core, saying how much Keatts “likes to win”. Ummm… yeah. Okay.
Now that we’ve got all the feel goods out of the way.. you’ve got a job to do, Kev. And that’s win championships in the toughest conference in the land. Get to work, bud.
03/17/2017 at 6:29 PM #120957JeremyHParticipantBob Valvano endorses Keatts? What the
03/17/2017 at 6:31 PM #120958TheAliasTrollParticipantAlso, fVck the entire Miller family. Every last one of them.
03/17/2017 at 6:31 PM #120959Manu GinobiliParticipantI don’t really have an opinion on the guy, but I think it’s a hire that makes total sense. I’m not saying it’s the best option, but it may be the smartest option.
Dr Yow is going to be here for another two long years, that was not going to change. Gott was going to burn the program to the ground at that pace, so that is that.
Hiring Keatts would probably be a boom or bust situation; he either has it or he doesn’t, and we will know quickly. Any coach will get at least two years here, so by the time the new AD rolls in, he or she will decide if a coaching change is required.
The “big” names knew this and I’m guessing that’s what kept most of them out. An up and comer like Keatts was maybe our only option given this situation. If he continues what we had the last two seasons, the new AD will give him a third year and then he will be out. A bigger” name, particularly an alumni who is not of the liking of his new boss, will be much harder to fire.
03/17/2017 at 6:32 PM #120960robpack93ParticipantWait til Marshall winds up at UVA if the BIG schools pick off Bennett
03/17/2017 at 6:36 PM #120961TheAliasTrollParticipantLet’s go Shockers!!!! GO WICHITA ST!!!.. hope Archie cries on the way home. Hope his brother fails miserably as the UNC coach.
03/17/2017 at 6:39 PM #120963JeremyHParticipantSo the first time it was Sweaty Gary poisoning the well and now it’s Sean vis Herb? And the media every time?
03/17/2017 at 6:45 PM #120966jay95ParticipantBeyond disappointed but unfortunately not surprised. Wish the new coach success but I’m pretty skeptical.
Class of 95
03/17/2017 at 6:55 PM #120973heavyParticipantSeems like payback for forcing lover boy out… she needs to be fired.
03/17/2017 at 6:55 PM #120974rkyParticipantWow . . . put me in the crowd that is done. How can one university be so incredibly stupid? Done. Done. Done. State gets what it deserves from here on out. Sad heartbreaking freakin’ day for the Wolfpack.
03/17/2017 at 6:57 PM #120975TexpackParticipantSo we paid a consultant $90K to find a guy 2 hours down the road who would have been available from a phone call and jump at the opportunity to move up?
We paid a consultant to allow interested coaches to indicate that in confidence and allow us to have back channel contact with people we might want to talk to. That’s why this all stayed so quiet until today. This is a sad statement on how our program is viewed but we shall see how it works out. My freshman year at State we got turned down by a HS coach and at least one other guy before we landed Coach V. I’d be shocked if Keatts is the next V, but after watching V get totally out coached his first season he did pretty well.
03/17/2017 at 7:04 PM #120977AdventurooParticipantOK….GOTTA a question….
BJD95 and others….
DID you see or did someone “SLIP” you a copy of the Consultant’s LIST? Who was on it?
Do you REALLY believe that if Archie had told his agent to “Keep me in the mix….but I don’t want to know ANY of the details until I quit playing…? If he had said that, my bet is that we would not be announcing Keats today.
I am a little confused also at the lack of understanding of the process. We asked for a list of coaches (some we chose and some that were supposed to come out of the woodwork) that WERE interested in the NCSU Job.
NOW, if no one signed on, HOW IS THAT DEBBIE’s FAULT? Hell, it may be mine or yours or PP or whatever….
We paid $$ for the SAME list last time. We interviewed a LOT of them. We finally settled on Shaka. We KNOW the rest.
SO if there was ANY remote chance that Archie or (you FIB here), a BIG TIME coach was interested and still playing….do you THINK we would have waited.
I think that we did NOT have, even with the whiff of some bigger bucks, much of an attraction. WHY….Don’t know.
If you want to get the consultant to tell you WHY, pay him the big bucks for the feedback.
If you don’t want to buy season tickets (and I really am curious about HOW MANY HERE do so), then DON”T.
I don’t know how Keats will work out. I am optimistic. I also wonder if Archie had already sent a message…that is why Keats was the Media’s favorite for the job.
Sometimes when you (single of course) go into a bar and think you are the hottest thing on 4 wheels, you often find that the HOT chicks do NOT dig you. We were, at one time, YOUNG, Handsome and VIRILE. BUT time has taken it toll. Fortunately, with BB, you DO get to “turn back the clock”. So we have the opportunity to do so again. Gottfried had us going in the right direction….but lost sight of the goal and wandered off course.
The bitching and moaning does NOT do anything to enhance the appearance of NCSU….and THIS is the SANE Board….think what PP is doing…
EOR…
03/17/2017 at 7:10 PM #120979WulfpackParticipantNOW, if no one signed on, HOW IS THAT DEBBIE’s FAULT? Hell, it may be mine or yours or PP or whatever….
If that’s how it went down, the fact others weren’t interested speaks volumes about Yow.
03/17/2017 at 7:10 PM #120980packof81ParticipantSo the first time it was Sweaty Gary poisoning the well and now it’s Sean vis Herb? And the media every time?
Like I said on the other thread, it’s a “tough neighborhood”. Apparently, NC State has lots of enemies. As soon as Gott lands a media gig, he’ll be badmouthing us too if he isn’t already.
Sure, the rest of the league has to play Duke and Carolina too but they don’t have to deal with such media hostility and bad blood. That doesn’t help with recruiting a top coach.
That being said, this announcement was powerful early.
03/17/2017 at 7:10 PM #120981TheAliasTrollParticipantWe paid a consultant to allow interested coaches to indicate that in confidence and allow us to have back channel contact with people we might want to talk to. That’s why this all stayed so quiet until today.
honestly, who give a crap after this hire.. they might as well have announced every move via twitter for all I care
03/17/2017 at 7:25 PM #120984Cardiac-95ParticipantNational Media a few weeks ago: NC State’s expectations are too high…
National Media today: This is a great hire by NC State!…
That says it all…
03/17/2017 at 7:26 PM #120985TheAliasTrollParticipantThe bitching and moaning does NOT do anything to enhance the appearance of NCSU….and THIS is the SANE Board….think what PP is doing…
Here’s the rub.. it doesn’t matter WHAT we say. We can all post here that we demand undefeated season for 3 years straight or else be fired, and IT DOES NOT MATTER.
Media already believes they understand our “tendencies” and that’s how it’s going to be, despite how completely false they are. So hell we might as well embrace it.
Win NOW or GTFO!!!
03/17/2017 at 7:50 PM #120993albunde55ParticipantMade my phone call to confirm this disaster! It is true, we suck so bad that Keats was identified by the big money as the number 2 guy months ago. Why did we spend money on consultant! Must be careful with my Quotes ” he is a good family guy” not sure now that will help him in recruiting, but the big money thinks that gives him an edge. “He was able to bring people to the games at UNCW”. Wow! “He great recruiter at Louisville”! No Rick Pitino was a great recruiter. This need to be verified, was told that we will get help with buy out because he is an Adidas coach? We must have the only 2 Adidas coaches in NCAA. They did say that it was offer and not competed!
With this said, email to [email protected] to let him know that I am done. Encourage all those who are tired of this crap to do the same.

so your suggesting that UNCW’s coach was the only prospect interested in a major university, ACC, historically relevant Tobacco Road program that has two National Championships and is a basketball first school, and is a proven attractant for 4 and 5 star talent despite non top-tier coaches??
OK – if you say so – No reason to question Debbie then
Fine if A. Miller says not for me I got other things in mind. But that’s it we move to that guy at UNCW that doing pretty good?
For the record I hope with all my heart that Keats tears it up. Welcome to NC State and the ACC Coach.
I also hope Yow announces her early retirement tomorrow.I think that we did NOT have, even with the whiff of some bigger bucks, much of an attraction.
this is unclear to me is this saying NCSU didn’t have much money to offer?
03/17/2017 at 7:59 PM #120996TheAliasTrollParticipantFor the record I hope with all my heart that Keats tears it up.
Who the hell is Keats? Well, I’m sold now. You knowledge of him is much better than those here. We got fans who who love him who can’t even get the coaches name right..
a true sign of the times
03/17/2017 at 8:00 PM #120997TheAliasTrollParticipantKEATS is here!!! We’re saved. Time to finally start hanging some banners!!!!
