Best of luck to him and thanks for the season. Baffled as to how Roy is keeping Paige around (actually, not really since they do whatever they want & skirt consequences). And if this other word of transfer/going pro is true regarding KW, there’s going to be several holes to fill on what has been a lackluster recruiting off season for the team. Hope this is not taking Gott and the coaching staff by surprise…
04/15/2015 at 5:00 PM #85053WolfInVolCountryParticipantI wish the best for him. At 24 I can understand his decision, but I still think it may be a mistake. I think a good/great season next year could have gotten him into the high second/low first round of the draft. Oh well… hopefully Gott can pull a rabbit out of his hat.
04/15/2015 at 5:53 PM #85056TheAliasTrollParticipantTrevor is a good college player but not even close to NBA talent and another year doesn’t get him close either. Him being 24 it absolutely makes sense for him to try and get some European money. I don’t think the team gets worse but the competition we play against in the ACC will be even greater next year. If Gott pulls off another NCAA tourney appearance in 2016 build him a statue.
04/15/2015 at 6:00 PM #85057bslyParticipantNot the end of the world. It just means more pt for henderson and the Martin twins. We could use another guard though.
04/15/2015 at 6:05 PM #85058BJD95KeymasterI became worried about Almond Joy late last week, on the SAME F-ING DAY I jinxed us by saying all was “quietly confident” on the wolven source front. Then over the weekend, things started looking more hopeful. Then, more news on him today that could be viewed as bad, and a few hours later…he declares.
The second guy I’m worried about isn’t Angel of Death (nor is it Cat, no need to go into complete panic) and I hope to God it’s just a coincidence he was hanging around with Almond Joy…
4 guys for the 1-3 slots isn’t ok. Even assuming Twin A or Twin B can be a viable backup Point Forward (remember when Billy Packer said that Ben McCauley should have been that on our lost season in Sid’s second year?), we MUST get a grad school transfer.
04/15/2015 at 6:14 PM #85059WulfpackParticipantwe MUST get a grad school transfer.
Has the NCAA outlawed this yet?
04/15/2015 at 6:15 PM #85060KhanParticipantTop 4 team next year. Believe the hype!
04/15/2015 at 6:23 PM #85061RedReidParticipantTL has been in school effectively for 4 years. If he has graduated this may not be a bad move for him. If he is on the cusp of finishing his degree(within a year) I feel like it’s dumb not to finish considering he is most likely heading for a European career. I hope that doesn’t come off as condescending because he was fun to watch play and will play basketball somewhere professionally for a long time. Playing ball anywhere Is better than pushing paper at a desk job. I just hope is considering life after ball as well.
04/15/2015 at 6:38 PM #85062BassPackerParticipantWell crap….seems like anytime theres a glimmer of hope for something special with a Pack team, it gets dashed. I can understand Lacey decision but honestly don’t see it. I hate the NBA and what it has done to the college game of basketball. If something doesn’t happen to make the NCAA game worth more than just an education to top players, then the college game will become the Washington Generals of NBA.
04/15/2015 at 7:21 PM #85063redisgoodParticipantIt’s official. Kyle is gone too.
04/15/2015 at 7:23 PM #85064BJD95KeymasterGreat. We’re officially boned. Now I have to hope the exodus doesn’t grow to 3.
F-CK EVERYTHING.
04/15/2015 at 7:25 PM #85065redisgoodParticipantLife off the bubble didn’t last vey long.
04/15/2015 at 7:27 PM #85066WulfpackParticipantWe all saw it in the body language. He finished strong, but was he really going to compete for serious minutes over Abu, Freeman and Anya? Don’t think so.
04/15/2015 at 7:29 PM #85067JasonPParticipantDoesn’t make sense but…good luck to KW. And good luck to us. We need it.
04/15/2015 at 7:30 PM #85068NCSU84ParticipantAs soon as we lost to Louisville in the NCAAT, I predicted Trevor and Kyle would leave. This is one time that I truly hate being right.
04/15/2015 at 7:33 PM #85069WulfpackParticipantTo clarify, the NCAA is taking a long hard look at the 5th year transfer rule.
According to Jim Haney, executive director for the National Association of Basketball Coaches, the NCAA is looking at the rule for possible changes.
“I’m hopeful that by September there will be a recommendation going forward regarding changing that rule,” Haney said.
And if it is changed, they hope it will go into effect for the 2016-17 school year.

04/15/2015 at 7:38 PM #85070Alpha WolfKeymasterGottfried should try to get involved with #2 recruit SG Jaylen Brown, stat. Adidas kid from Marietta. We have minutes.
04/15/2015 at 7:40 PM #85071redisgoodParticipantSeven scholarship players at the moment. Three bigs, three wings, and one guard. Not good.
04/15/2015 at 8:14 PM #85072choppack1ParticipantI had hoped that Lacey would leave the door open but it certainly don’t sound like it.
You had to figure kW was gone once Freeman solidified his starting position. The big issue is depth right now – and that’s only if we don’t lose others. Hold your breath – the martin twins just got a lot more important. Cat, Henderson, Anya and Abu are obviously key…with what we have returning we can still be damn good. But we can’t have other defections or injuries.
04/15/2015 at 8:25 PM #85073packalum44ParticipantColor me surprised losing two kids early. Who would have ever ever ever thought this could happen. Too bad Gott can’t make an unexpected departure. I hope he doesn’t get caught with his pants down again.
04/15/2015 at 8:27 PM #85074BJD95KeymasterThe grad school transfer route is the way most programs like us can get help when we find ourselves over a barrel like this. So of course the NCAA wants to “fix” it so that only the likes of Duke and Kansas can recover (by late “one and done” signees).
04/15/2015 at 8:32 PM #85075VaWolf82KeymasterColor me surprised losing two kids early. Who would have ever ever ever thought this could happen.
I trust that this is sarcasm.
04/15/2015 at 8:53 PM #8507613OTParticipantWhy is everyone so upset? Are we the only team losing players early?
The more things change, the more they remain the same.
04/15/2015 at 9:03 PM #85077JediwolfParticipantYes we will miss Lacey and Washington, but Gott is 4 for 4. No reason to think we can’t make it 5 in a row. We have a great team and a great coach. Go Pack! Go Gott!
04/15/2015 at 9:06 PM #85078WulfpackParticipantAre we the only team losing players early?
Heck no. Your fortunate if they stay. That’s just the way the landscape is these days.
Duke has lost Okafor, Winslow and Jones. UNC lost Tokoto. UVa lost Anderson.
