Strange rule that does not benefit Trea Turner, former Pack 9 great and 13th overall pick in last year’s MLB Draft. Turner was traded last week from the San Diego Padres to the Washington Nationals as the “player to be named later” in a multi-player and multi-team deal. While his playing rights have already been shipped out to Washington, he physcially can’t join the Nationals until June when he is formally announced as the player to be named later.
“Given the circumstances and the undoubtedly negative impact on Trea Turner, for the teams involved and Major League Baseball to endorse and approve this trade is not only unethical, but also goes against the very spirit of the Minor League Uniform Player Contract that players sign when they first enter professional baseball…”
Only for an NC State player….
