I think next year will say a lot about gott and co. Should be very little player turnover. Barring injuries, the pieces will be in place.
I predict a repeat of this year is a best case scenario.

03/27/2015 at 11:13 PM #83497SeaWolf72ParticipantI hope you’re right about the turnovers. Washington and the Martins are my concerns. Kids these days are not very patient with playing time. Next year’s starters are probably already in place with Henderson replacing Turner. Whatever is keeping Washington off the floor needs to be fixed. I still couldn’t believe he didn’t play the last 5 minutes when he was our only scoring threat inside. (and outside too). Good year though. Next year should be better if they stay together…..
03/27/2015 at 11:20 PM #83498BJD95KeymasterThis ends my depressing music triumverate. We should two real shots with veteran rosters in 2015-16 and 2016-17. We know what NC State Shit says will happen. Time will tell. I will give Gott a chance to overcome it before I give up. Glad I have the weekend to wallow. Go Zags, Go Shadow Pack(tm).
03/27/2015 at 11:22 PM #83499JeremyHParticipantHarrell sure came to play tonight though. It was almost like he was playing possum in the first meeting. I did not know he was this good, something for Abu to aspire to. Clearly to go further we need to be less jumpshot reliant.

Washington’s poor defense has been keeping him off of the floor. If we could combine his scoring with Frenchie’s defense and rebounding we would be dangerous. This is the staff that developed Richard Howell, so we shall see how much they can do with these four big guys.
I’m proud of how this team didn’t quit. It was frustrating that it took so long for the light to go on, but at least it did. We need to see the last 11 games performance level from the get go next season to earn a top four seed and position ourselves for a deeper push.
03/28/2015 at 12:02 AM #83506ryebreadParticipantI think we lost because:
1) Game plan
2) Harrell was incredibly impressive. That was lottery pick play if you ask me. It was like he was on a personal vendetta to make up for the last game.
3) Delta in aggressiveness that resulted in an inconsistent whistle
4) An off night from Cat and Abu
5) That freshman PG played lights out on the big stage.I felt like this was our best shot to make real noise since V. At the same time, this type of game shows you just how tough it is once you make the Sweet 16.
I will say this though. The late season run that resulting in the Sweet 16, from where we were after the rough stretch was incredibly impressive. While we need to tip the cap to Louisville tonight, I’m pretty impressed with how we finished up down the stretch.
The path back to relevance isn’t done with one hot run. It’s done from being in the discussion year in and year out. Notice the number of appearances in the Sweet 16 that Pitino, Izzo, Roy, K, Calipari, etc. have made? That’s what we need to get in order to get over the hump. Continuous success will feed recruiting, which ultimately will allow us to break through. The goal next year should be no less than the Sweet 16.

Did you not see him get abused on defense? That is the thing keeping him off the floor, and deservedly so.
03/28/2015 at 12:22 AM #83508Since74ParticipantExtremely pleased with the way we ended the season. Think if Cat was 100% we get a different outcome. Can’t wait to see next year’s development. Logic would imply more confidence and composure. Hope that holds true.
03/28/2015 at 7:39 AM #83517NCSU84ParticipantAs many have already stated, I too am looking forward to next year IF (big if) everyone returns. Lacey has a step-back jumper that probably has some NBA scouts taking notice and he could possibly enter the draft. I detect some “issue” between Gott and Washington and I would not be surprised to see a transfer. Hopefully, I am wrong with these predictions and everyone stays. However, over recent years, I have seen defections (Lewis, Purvis) that have significantly impacted our “next year’s” team.
03/28/2015 at 7:50 AM #83518MPParticipant1. ^ The Lewis transfer had no impact on this years team.
2. Enough with the woe is me this was our best opportunity BS. Looking at Rick. It’s not like we didn’t compete. We got beat.
3. Congratulations to the players and coaches for improving throughout the season and becoming a very good team.03/28/2015 at 8:05 AM #83519redisgoodParticipantI hope you’re right about the turnovers. Adam Zagoria is reporting that he’s hearing all players will return next year. (Except the seniors of course). That is great news if true. I absolutely cannot wait to see the new Cat and Trevor playing a full year together. Best backcourt in the ACC. And the continued development of Abu is equally exciting. We had a great finish to the season, and I fully believe that will carry into next season.

Congratulations to the players and coaches for improving throughout the season and becoming a very good team.Best by a team we already beat who lost their starring PG and war starting a freshmen PG (remember you must have experience to win). It was a huge lost opportunity and there is no way to white wash it. And opportunities that good are very rare.
03/28/2015 at 8:38 AM #83528papackmanParticipantHated to see the season end like everyone here. But the Pack exceeded expectations in FB and BB to everyones delight. Beat our rivals, won our bowl game and made it to the SS. Next year is the most Pack fans have had to look forward to in a long time. Go Pack!!
03/28/2015 at 9:03 AM #83530JohnGalt78ParticipantWho among us, not counting trolls, given the loss of buckets, would not have happily signed a preseason contract placing us in the sweet 16? Be honest. We greatly overachieved. And come on, our most critical piece was gagging up fur balls before this game. Bad luck for us…but that doesn’t diminish what a fantastic season this team put together from beginning to end despite the pundit’s dire predictions.
Oh, and we seem to be an attractive landing spot for transfers.
GO PACK!

^ Well said IMHO. Still a great deal of disappointment this morning, but this is pretty much how I feel as well. Wish we had won, but proud of the team for the overall effort down the stretch.
For the life of me, I don’t know why some of you get so worked up over things…ESPECIALLY when not everyone agrees with your own personal level of excitement/disappointment/satisfaction.
03/28/2015 at 9:22 AM #83532redisgoodParticipantI just listened to the player interviews, and to a man they all talked about coming back and how good the team will be next year. They also mentioned Terry Henderson, and how good he is.
Only five months until football, then basketball. Man, this is going to be fun!

They know it. We know it. Gott knows it. But it scares me. We have not handled success and accolades well at all. We’re likely a preseason top 25 pick. Nobody in our league is going to overlook us. Every year is a new year. Time to get to work.
03/28/2015 at 9:55 AM #83536RickKeymasterLacey: Me and coach talked about [leaving] before the season. If I was to do anything, I’d make sure he knew first. There’s no surprises.

I hope that does not happen.03/28/2015 at 9:59 AM #83537TheAliasTrollParticipantLouisville made shots. We didn’t. That simple.
I’m shocked Lundquist didn’t rush the court.

I would argue it is not that simple. They were sitting five footers while we were shooting long shots. It us easier to hit the short ones.
Gott did a great job on the late season run. He did not have his best game last night. I hope he learns and grows from it as he is going to be here a long time.
03/28/2015 at 10:13 AM #83540BJD95KeymasterIf Almond Joy leaves, I will go ahead and send out e-vites for the Jonestown Kool-Aid party.
Flavor requests welcome.

I hope that does not happen.Yep, that would be a crusher. He’s 23 years old, would be 24 next season. I’d certainly understand if he feels he needs to get on with his life, but that would be a real body blow to the team.
