(8) State will play (9) LSU Thursday evening in the last Pittsburgh session, approx. 9:20pm on TBS, after the Villanova-Lafayette game.

03/15/2015 at 11:03 PM #80157Prowling WoofieParticipantFood for thought – check out #4 on the 10 Coldest Teams list….
Seems they’re not any more predictable than we are !
03/16/2015 at 7:02 AM #80168Prowling WoofieParticipantIn case ESPN Insider won’t give you access to the article, here’s the write-up on LSU as one of the 10 Coldest Teams….
4. LSU TigersSince late January this has been a .500 team (6-6), and keep in mind only one of those losses can be chalked up to having to play Kentucky. The Tigers closed their pre-NCAA season with an overtime loss to an Auburn team that went 4-14 in the SEC. Johnny Jones’ defense has actually been fairly consistent throughout the season, and Jarell Martin and Jordan Mickey form a high-potential duo. But LSU has struggled at times to score and is weak on the boards at both ends of the floor.
03/16/2015 at 7:32 AM #80173BJD95KeymasterYay! No conflict with the Everton/Dynamo Kyiv Europa League match. I know we were all worried about THAT, right?
/still worried about how I will manage to fit a nap in
03/16/2015 at 8:55 AM #80178KhanParticipantWe can play with almost anyone in the country, IF we decide to show up. Hopefully, we will.
03/16/2015 at 9:07 AM #80179DC_wolfParticipantFor perspective: since late January & going into the ACC tourney, NCSU was 6-6 (though having won 5 of their last 6); since the conference tourney they are now 7-7 – but I get your drift, espn, I would rather have NCSU upside of 6-6 rather than LSU / Pitt chill of 6-6..
Go PACK!
03/16/2015 at 10:32 AM #80186packof81ParticipantDespite some disappointments, this has been a good season. Four consecutive trips to the NCAA ain’t too shabby.
I’m optimistic that the good pack will show up.
03/16/2015 at 10:39 AM #80189PapaJohnParticipantI totally agree that the Pack at its best can play with these guys – however, LSU is really going to be tough. It will be their strength (bigs) against our weakness. If our guards are hitting from outside, we’re going to be okay. But that could be said for every game we play.
So game one is going to be very tough, and probably close. And if we win, our guys will have a tough time getting up for the second game.
If we do get through that one, Villanova is a monster. They are the team we all wish we had – They have six guys averaging at least 9.2 PPG, no one averaging above 14. Those six guys are all Juniors and Seniors. The starting guards are 6/5 and 6/6. 32 wins, no losses out of conference. Really, really good team.
Excited to be in the tourney for the 4th straight year, but not sure our youngsters are going to be ready to play their best on Thursday AND Saturday.
C’mon guys, surprise me!!!!!!!!!! GO PACK!!!
03/16/2015 at 10:46 AM #80190PackerInRussiaParticipant^^ Far from shabby, in fact! One year away from eternal enshrinement for Gottfried! Results unnecessary for consideration!
03/16/2015 at 11:00 AM #80192BJD95KeymasterLSU has strong bigs, but our bigs defend just fine. They just can’t tote the mail offensively (yet). Won’t need to (yet).
03/16/2015 at 11:07 AM #80193TroutParticipantComparing LSU to NC State:
Dancecard: 29; 26
RPI: 54; 40
BPI: 41; 37
SOS: 97; 6
1-25: 2-1; 3-6
26-50: 1-1; 1-2
51-100: 9-3; 6-203/16/2015 at 2:28 PM #80205fullmoon1ParticipantThey gotta guard us to pal- Ike Turner
03/16/2015 at 4:35 PM #80217MrPlywoodParticipantNCSU upside of 6-6
6-2 over their last 8 would be a more accurate description of State’s run. State finished strong, despite not showing up for BC (durr) or Duke. Another tidbit I mentioned before, is that during the stretch run (counting the last 9 games) State has lost 1, won 3, lost 1, won 3, lost 1 (that last one to Duke), so… hopefully they can continue that pattern.
The day between games is key here. But I hope they aren’t even thinking about Nova right now. LSU is the target.

I’m convinced. Elite Eight, here we come.
Though I’d hate to get murderized in a game with the F4 on the line.03/17/2015 at 12:11 PM #80258Prowling WoofieParticipantESPNU’s “The Experts” – Tim Welsh, Dino Gaudio, Adrian Branch, Corey Alexander – did a breakdown of all the brackets, and gave props to every team in the East bracket….except the Wolfpack ! Not a mention, not a hint of a chance to advance.
I’m liking this ‘under the radar’ approach.
Use it as fuel, Pack !!!
03/17/2015 at 5:36 PM #80278ChemE79aParticipantHas it occurred to anyone else that if we were to get through the first weekend, and if higher seeds advance otherwise, our next 3 games would be against ACC teams? First Louisville, then Virginia and we would then play Duke in the first round of the final four. Then if the higher seeds assumption continued we would play Kentucky for the national title. Or if the appropriate upsets were to occur we would catch UNx or Notre Dame in the final game. How weird would it be to go through another ACC tournament to get to play in the national title game?
03/17/2015 at 5:51 PM #80279ncsu_kappaParticipantChemE our bracket having 3 ACC schools in it was one of the first things I noticed. I then thought to myself they wouldn’t overload one 1/4 of the bracket with any one conference. I figured at least 9 ACC schools got bids. 2 in every bracket and 3 in ours. Nope they overloaded one bracket with ACC schools.
Hell one game at a time… survive and advance… one pack one goal… statement … we are a hands in the dirt school… whatever the freak we need to hear… win one for the gipper… win one for the V… and hell if neither of those guys matter just win it for lil old me
03/18/2015 at 7:38 PM #80336WufpackerParticipantFirst Louisville, then Virginia and we would then play Duke in the first round of the final four. As a matter of fact, you just described my “fantasy land” bracket.
Pack over Heels (58-46…hee hee) for the national title after dispatching ‘Ville, UVa and Duke in order.
03/18/2015 at 11:16 PM #80352GowolvesParticipantGuys I wish for that as well BUT we have to win the first one. This game scares the crap out of me. They played KY very close. They play like that again and it will be a long night. I am of the mindset we do need some offense from our bigs. This will open up the play for our guards.
03/19/2015 at 6:19 AM #80354BJD95KeymasterMatchups matter. And this is the kind of matchup that should – SHOULD – work in our favor. They have none of the hallmarks of the teams that tend to drag us into the mud and frustrate the hell out of us. Their strength (interior offense and ONE perimeter shooter) is what we defend best. They get frustrated easily and make dumb mistakes. “Good” Pack should stick the knife in and dispatch pretty readily. Again – SHOULD.
03/19/2015 at 12:59 PM #80393GowolvesParticipantI thank hats another reason why this game sacred me. We should win. We all know what happens when that’s the case.
