Connecticut has landed a commitment from former Seton Hall guard Sterling Gibbs, the No. 1 transfer on the market.

Gibbs chose the Huskies over Ohio State, Pittsburgh, NC State and VCU. The 6-foot-2 guard will be eligible immediately next season after graduating from Seton Hall.

That is a tough break for us. Gibbs teamed with Cat would have put us back in the Top 10-15 preseason. But honestly I think he had UConn picked all along and everything else was a smokescreen to avoid tampering charges. He originally announced for the Huskies before he even had his release from Seton Hall.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen an ACC team go into a season with only one true guard. Should be interesting.

Gibbs is a huge loss. Difference between a bubble team and possible Final Four. The incident you reference was way out of character for him. Really a good kid. Too bad, but like I said, we probably never had a chance. Add to that the fact Purvis was his escort during his visit, we definitely didn’t have a chance.

Way out of character? No, hold the excuses, that’s his character shining through, and very brightly I might add. That’s who he is. Good kid? No, he’s a playground street brawler-baller, and there is no room in college sports for “good kids” like him… May UConn welcome the jerk with open arms…They deserve this punk…Yeah, I know, Chris Paul is a good kid too… Look, the “out of character” excuse is played out….I don’t know anyone who buys it in situations like this..If it was truly out of character, it would not have happened..John Hinkley acted out of character too, so I’m told..

“Man, that’s not who I am,” he tweeted. “I’m sorry to my family, friends, fans and team for being an embarrassment. Even more to Arcidiacono. I let my emotions get the best of me and that wasn’t acceptable. I hope you’re alright, and I will face any consequences coming. … Sorry again, Ryan Arcidiacono. It really is weighing heavy on my heart.”

    What a thug.

“Emotions sometimes get the best of us. heat of the moment thing. We’re all good. @SterlingGibbs4”

“While thousands of adults were arguing on social media about what happened, what didn’t happen and what should happen next, the two college kids who were actually involved in the incident showed more maturity and reason than almost everybody else combined.”

Nothing personal, but contrition doesn’t grant a free pass to absolution…who wouldn’t be contrite in his position?

John Hinckley….yeah, he really is a “good kid”,and gentle too. His attempt to kill Ronnie was way, way out of character for him. And, he really does sound contrite these days, when he speaks. I hear that he will be paroled soon. He played guard in high school at Highlands Park High School in Texas, and he has eligibility to spare. Shoots a mean three, I’m told.
