ND vs Miami…. where do you find shoes like that? Frigging blinding me.
03/12/2015 at 9:51 PM #79366MikeParticipantMartin gave Allen some words – TV cut away right as it was happening. Allen went up for a layup and Martin swatted it out of bounds. Normally I would say that was in bad taste, considering the score – kind of like a UNX DB making a tackle 30 yards downfield and talking trash in a blowout – but Allen certainly deserved it.
Martin started to stare him down but turned away. Then the TV timeout and as the teams were going to their benches, Allen “brushed” against Martin on his way back. Completely low class and intentional, and Martin DID say something at that point. Kudos to Cody.
03/12/2015 at 9:54 PM #79367MikeParticipantAs for the Gott bashers, where have you been the last couple weeks? This team has come around and grown up. Tonight was an egg but sometimes that happens. Even Archie Miller’s teams have had some eggs this year. For a guy who can’t coach, Gott is 4-2 against Williams, Pitino, Boeheim, and K.
03/12/2015 at 9:56 PM #79368redcanineParticipant^That’s what I was trying to say. That punk Allen stepped right over Trevor and he didn’t need to because he wasn’t off balance or anything. He’s got it coming to him, whatever he gets he deserves.
That was the perfect opportunity for all 4 of Trevor’s teammates to surround that jerk right in front of Duke’s bench. I’m all for old school karma.
03/12/2015 at 10:04 PM #79369wufpup76KeymasterI’m all for old school karma.
You are definitely not the only one. Fools learn quick when there are consequences.
03/12/2015 at 10:08 PM #79370Whiteshoes67ParticipantWe don’t have a lot of old school karma in that bunch. We shoot jumpers. If dez wasn’t getting a little justice for that screen, it wasn’t to be hsd
03/12/2015 at 10:12 PM #79371WufpackerParticipant‘Canes seem to have had the same pregame meal as the Pack.
03/12/2015 at 10:40 PM #79372PackzingoParticipantAny news regarding Cat?
03/12/2015 at 10:49 PM #79373PackofMacParticipantBJD95 you sir made this night a little better! I laughed so hard I almost shat out a turd similar to what the boys laid tonight.
03/12/2015 at 10:54 PM #79374wufpup76KeymasterAny news regarding Cat?
I haven’t seen anything.
03/12/2015 at 10:55 PM #79375PackofMacParticipantwufpup thanks for the info regarding posting pics, I’ll give it a try another night.

no problem
03/12/2015 at 11:06 PM #79378WolfWiz11ParticipantI left the Ale House before the end of the first half. These things happen. I’m not gonna be negative, the fellas definitely did their best in the last 7 or so games, coaches and all. So let’s just regroup for the tourney. Hopefully, we can avoid a second round meeting with Kentucky.
And I hate that Allen kid. This year’s group of Dookies def seems a bit cockier than normal. I guess when Jabari was there, everyone was on their best behavior cuz he’s such a good kid.
03/12/2015 at 11:22 PM #79379JeremyHParticipantCook sets that cocky tone and the rest follow. Aside, Duke probably leaked that story about Sulaimon.
03/12/2015 at 11:37 PM #79380AdventurooParticipantJust got back to the motor home after leaving at the half of the Miami – ND game. Miami almost pulled off a great comeback.
As to the Duke game. From the stands, it looked UGLY. We played UGLY. The officials were UGLY. Talked to a few Duke fans in the open area afterwards. They agreed. Mikey had our number and the best defense. I guess you don’t get to 1000 by being DUMB.
But, they also agreed that the officiating was the sorriest that we had seen the entire tournament. The WP network (coming on and going off inside) was livid. On one of the early “blocking” fouls on Lacey, Tony said the footage would have been a text book case of a charge. The Zebs were inconsistent on both ends….but seemingly MORE so when Duke had the ball.
We were taken out of our game plan with Mikey’s junky defense….but the Refs were the reason that we were down so much at the half.
It is what it is….Hope that Mike Bray has some “payback” planned for his old boss.
We have had a lot of fans stop by and got to talking to some ‘Cuse fans that were here last year.
They say that Jim Bo is going to COMEBACK. He will coach until he breaks whatever record he is chasing….and taking away the 108 wins will only motivate him to get them back in 4 seasons….and gain some.
Will See….
03/12/2015 at 11:48 PM #79381JeremyHParticipantAdventuroo, that’s a really interesting take.
When I heard the talking heads say losing to State could possibly cost Duke their 1 seed, I knew that we’d be in trouble.
03/13/2015 at 5:01 AM #79383mak4dpakParticipantUgly as it was, it is over, and time to move on. The guys may have gotten a little overconfident after the Pitt game, especially Lacey/Barber, with 4 and 0 points respectively, after their great games against Pitt. Hope one day they will learn to show up for every game. There are no givens. Time to make a run in the big dance now.
03/13/2015 at 5:55 AM #79384WulfpackParticipantIt was a disappointing loss any way you cut it. Duke got us early, and we never recovered. Not fun to lose that way when everybody (nationally) is watching. And everybody was watching (at least the first half).
I give the staff and players major credit for solidifying the bid the past few weeks. Great run. We have much to look forward to. We can definitely make a run if we play like we know how.
03/13/2015 at 6:05 AM #79386mak4dpakParticipantIf there can be any positives from the game, I would say, we won the second half, though a little too late.
03/13/2015 at 6:22 AM #79387BJD95KeymasterI go back to what I said going in – having played for weeks with a gun to our temple, I feared we could collapse in a heap from the emotional exhaustion. We didn’t against Pitt, and I discounted it. But going down double digits like 15 seconds into the Duke game was enough of a trigger, and I don’t think it’s fair to be too hard on the kids for it. I honestly don’t think there’s anything we could have done to change the outcome anyway.
There are two keys. One, Cat’s health. Frankly, we have to stay completely mum on that so the committee doesn’t try to fuck with us. But without him, we would need to dig very, very deep just to win that first game. And that would be our ceiling.
Two, have a short memory. Wipe the slate clean and play like we have for the last several weeks in general. Confident and aggressive. There’s nothing to lose. If we go out, do so on our own terms.
03/13/2015 at 6:55 AM #79392backthebackagainParticipantAs for the Gott bashers, where have you been the last couple weeks? This team has come around and grown up. we all knew this type of game was always floating out there
Its unbelievably frustrating that we could play as well on Wed but come out like we did last night. When the rubber meets the road his true coaching colors come out
03/13/2015 at 7:13 AM #79393bill.onthebeachParticipantThings we shouldn’t forget…
1. One Coach in the League would rather win a ACC Tournament than the NCAA..
2. One Coach in the League will sacrifice the next game not to lose to a rival twice in one season
3. One Coach in the League watched silently (did not coach the second half) this season as his undefeated team was “embarassed” by, what appeared on paper to be, a far inferior “rival” opponent.Looking back objectively… that game was the turning point in Dook’s season and the rapid emergence/development of Winslow and Jones as game dominating players proceeded there from.
Anyone who didn’t see Coach Rat’s troops with four days to prepare, arriving in “Full Destroy, Take No Prisioners Mode”… is, as Dr. House affectionately would say, i an Idiot.
And then to just to make sure… Coach Rat reached back into his bag of coaching tricks… taught his kids how to play a new MATCHUP zone D, in two days… a Defense never seen outside before… Note this is not the same D as a straight ahead zone D. Totally different beast.
In some backhanded way… that’s a compliment to our Team and Coaches that Coach Rat thought all this to be necessary.
Anyone who thinks we could had the foresight to predict a MATCHUP zone and adequate time to prepare has unrealistic expectations.
——————
Now on the other end of the Court…
This is GOTT’s fourth ACC tournament… and for three of our first seven…. their First ACC tournament… the most important of these being Lacey and ABU.
Looking back… we put too much into the Pitt game and probably were a little tired to start. But that’s what playing THE TOURNAMENT is all about 3 of the toughest games of the season in Three days.
Lacey has had an “interesting” season… brilliant at times, great stat lines until everybody else figured out they had to focus some extra defense on him, a ton of big plays at the right time AND at other times some airballs and a lot of talking to officials… which is what one realistically expects from anyone playing on any team in his first season.
Then there’s CAT3.0… and yes that’s 30 one night and 0 the next night.
Guys, if you don’t love this kid, you just ain’t GOTT love to give… Anthony is the most honest, most transparent kid I seen in Red in years…
The kid has had a rollercoaster career of highs and lows, a rollercoaster season of high and lows including two major off the court events, one positive and one negative, and what you see is what you GOTT… yes yes that’s 30 one night and 0 the next night….
Now if you GOTT half a brain… you can look back see that after every low point …. Anthony has responded in exactly the same way for two seasons… He’ll regroup, He’ll focus, He’ll go to the gym by himself and He’ll make himself better…
And that’s why you GOTTa love him.
Coach GOTT knows this better than we do… and after the hit by Amile last night… there was no way Anthony was going back in the game … and while it was because he was “hurt”… in wasn’t because of Amile Jefferson.
—————–
House money in the NCAAs…
GOTT and Company and the kids… come out loose and happy… and go as far as the Gods of Basketball let them.. doesn’t matter…
We are playing for next season now…Have a good day!
#NCSU-North Carolina's #1 FOOTBALL school!03/13/2015 at 8:03 AM #79394RickKeymasterI was at the kids soccer practice, came home and saw we were down thirty. Turned it off and played Call of Duty.
I did not expect to win this game as I knew K was going to have his kids ready to run through a brick wall.
Hopefully Cat is OK and we get a decent seed for a little run.Gott has had the boys on a nice run. I am not convinced Gott is the right coacah in the long term but he certainly turned them around this year and deserves a ton of credit for that. When we lost 6 of 7 in the middle of the season I thought we were done. Next learning curve for the coach is to pull them out of the spiral a bit earlier or avoid the spiral altogether.
03/13/2015 at 8:17 AM #79395WulfpackParticipantWe are playing for next season now
Why? What was this season for?
We have a good team. Can beat anyone if we put our mind to it. It’s great making tourneys but let’s do some serious damage. Otherwise what was all of that for?
03/13/2015 at 8:18 AM #79396backthebackagainParticipantI wonder what is going to happen if we have a next year mirrors this season? Uneven play, bubble to the end? I think the fanbase may start to splinter.
