Sorry I missed the game with you guys… this was a “good” one..
I was working, you know…listened to parts of the second half and the last five minutes on the radio…
I’m damn impressed with the “rest of the TEAM” … they all picked up the slack nicely…
Who distracted Anthony today?
_______________
Kinda reminded me of an intermural championship game I played in one year in Carmichael…
I was averaging a nice double-double all season… but had a “social commitment” the night before a 10am Saturday morning game… In spite of a bad headache and no legs…I scored TWO POINTS… both free throws… the last minute of the game… we won by two…
My only point is… Basketball is a TEAM sport.

02/20/2016 at 7:40 PM #99941mak4dpakParticipantCoach said after the game, Barber was not sick, just had a bad game, as it happens some time. Just a good thing for us, we picked up the slack. Still keep holding out for a Terry Henderson contribution, but still not dressed for the game. Must be in really bad shape, for such a long recovery time.

We missed you BotB. This was one of the funnest games of the season to watch and to be on this board. Some good stuff and lots o laughs.

I think I called that game! Seriously! I’m not sure if it was ’76 or ’77, but I called the championship and I remember it was a great game. Funny to think about 40 years later.
02/20/2016 at 7:55 PM #99943MrPlywoodParticipantI thought Cat had gotten in to some bad Friskies. Gott may be playing his cards close with the cheaters up next. Most all of Cat’s shots were short, he just wasn’t with it. But it was a pleasure to see the team step up and have some fun. The Abu to KH play toward the end was fantastic. I don’t recall many ill-advised shots, they let the game come to them when needed and were aggressive in the right spots. Loved the board work (43 to 30), especially the numerous put-back slams. IMO GFK’s footwork was much better and it paid off. Stay thirsty GFK, there’s some Smurf killin to do.

Wow… that’s a small world kinda of thing…

which Smurf will have a career day?02/20/2016 at 9:39 PM #99946choppack1ParticipantWhen this team keeps composure and rebounds well – it does just fine and is fun to watch.
Mav is much improved and Caleb Martin is improving nicely.
Funny, cat, Abu and the Martin brothers are much improved. With the steps they habe made, I do believe the team is better than record. And I agree with Bill – that the effort has been solid this year.
02/21/2016 at 5:31 AM #99947redisgoodParticipantMav has definitely improved a lot of facets of his game. Even his defense has gotten better. This season however has ridden on the shooting of Mav and Cody, and they have been streaky at best. We’ve seen too many 1 for 10 games from both of them, all losses. Sure it was fun to watch and yes we won the game, but I would love to see a bit more consistency from both. I would not be shocked to see another 1 for 10 night Wednesday. But here’s hoping they can continue their hot shooting. If they do, and if Cat gets back on the beam, we have a shot. If they revert to cold shooting, the team won’t have a shot, but I’ll have many.
02/21/2016 at 8:41 AM #99948mak4dpakParticipantI am all in for the 1 for 10 shooting night, as long as it is the smurfs. A win would still have us in position for a possible tourney bid. Just have to take it one game at a time, and get a nice winning streak going.
02/21/2016 at 8:54 AM #99949TexpackParticipantThe first small measure of justice can be extracted on Wednesday night if we beat Roy in his final trip to Raleigh. I will be way too emotional before the game but that’s why I love this rivalry. It gives me a chance to get fired up about something that doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things.

I like it. I’m never giving up until we’re on the losing end of an ACCT game.
02/21/2016 at 1:13 PM #99956tractor57ParticipantMaybe a win would indeed do that. Right now my concern is moving out of the Les Robinson play in games.

Do what now?
02/21/2016 at 1:52 PM #99958RaisedByWolvesParticipantExciting game going on right now between the Lady Pack and the cheats on ESPN2. We were down early and quickly, by as much as 17 points in the first quarter or early second quarter (mercifully, I missed this part since I thought the game started at 2:00), but the team has fought back to lead by three at the half!
02/22/2016 at 2:54 PM #99980ryebreadParticipantGood win in what was one of the few left on the schedule where we’ll be favored. It seems like Clemson is playing its way off of any chance they had at being on the bubble.
I don’t have high hopes for Wednesday, or against Louisville. I figure we’re 50/50 against Syracuse and would really like to keep BC winless in conference. Beat the Cuse and BC and we’d be on the “over” of my over/under on regular season conference wins (5). From a 1-7 start, if we could go 5-5 down the stretch, that would be a considerable improvement.
The women’s game was a thing of beauty. I wish our men’s team moved the ball that well. Can Wes act as OC for Gott?
02/22/2016 at 3:00 PM #99981VaWolf82KeymasterHe needs a DC worse.
02/22/2016 at 3:13 PM #99983pakfanistanParticipantHe needs a DC worse.
Truth. We’re pretty good stats wise on offense and only slightly better than hopeless on D. I suspect there are a couple of guys making everyone else look bad on that front though.

After five years of being consistently mediocre on defense I think it is fair to say we cannot blame one or two particular players.
02/22/2016 at 5:07 PM #99985pakfanistanParticipantAfter five years of being consistently mediocre on defense I think it is fair to say we cannot blame one or two particular players.
You’re free to think what you’d like, but there’s one guy I see consistently lose his guy when we play man to man, and get sucked down into the paint when we play zone and just straight up forget to recover while he watches the other team run their offense. And, unsurprisingly, our 3pt defense is what we’re worst at.
02/22/2016 at 6:46 PM #99986VaWolf82KeymasterI don’t know who you’re talking about, but here are a few questions:
Who is responsible for recruiting him?
Who is responsible for teaching defense?
Who is responsible for in-game corrections and instruction?
Who is responsible for replacing a player that doesn’t perform? As Rick said, the problem goes much deeper than the players on this team.
I wish that the discussion would switch from blame to responsibility. There are a lot of bad things that happen that are not necessarily the coach’s fault. But the success/failure of the program is the coach’s responsibility.
02/22/2016 at 6:55 PM #99987pakfanistanParticipantAnd the cycle begins anew.
02/22/2016 at 7:26 PM #99988choppack1ParticipantPackphanistan – I was going to ask how this one guy wrecking Gott’s defensive gameplan got 16 years of eligibility.
02/22/2016 at 7:46 PM #99989TheCOWDOGModeratorVa? We talkin’ about the deep problems that got State to the brink of Elite 8,two outta 5?
