Wow….this has morphed a bit….
So, since YOU guys brought it up…..
First, the Plaque. Personally have NO problems with it. Doeren has a knack for simple statements. Jimmy V was the king of oneliners….mostly comic…but just as pointed and direct as Coach D. He also used the “Dream Room” as a motivational technique. That was cited as a “mind altering” technique by NEW chancellor Monteith and the Faculty Senate passed (hands wrings and singing 60’s folks songs) resolutions admonishing him for it.
Meanwhile, they, and their counterparts today….preach a swill that would lead to destruction of the individual. Remember it takes a “VILLAGE” to achieve….Fill In The Blank.
As to putting it up. DO IT. When you achieve something that is both a personal and team goal….then as a wise sage said….Not brag….just a fact.
I once took a stand and told a plant manager that he was not really on board for our safety program…and then there was a severe accident. Standard protocol was a full audit by a “take no prisoners” corporate team. I told him to shut down the factory for two hours….on a department by department basis and I would “arrange” for a pass on the audit. If not, I would be the lead auditor and his lack of support would be a topic when we discussed whether to retain him or replace him. Now….I did NOT have that much power….but he chose not to call my bluff. Later on, at every Corporate Safety meeting, I was asked to “make some remarks” about “how we became the top rated Division” and how “I shut down production”. When you achieve something….it can be used as a motivator to continue to achieve and also improve.
As far as the “chicks” and other comments….one has to look at the ENTIRE UNC system and what our “esteemed” BOG members and the Administration have “changed”. NOW, there are “Diversity” criteria. So, if a female with almost 1400 on her SAT’s wants to get into UNC and she is from Wake County….forget it. The “Rules” do not allow it because they only accept so many from Wake and she is not near the top of her ethnicity quota.
So, our best and brightest….who (probably brain washed at a young age) can not get into UNC….and choose NCSU. If you look at the “Diversity” numbers of each of the major UNC Systems, we no longer admit folks based on “Grades”. We have to factor in ethnicity and sex….
Back in the 60’s, it was your SAT and HS grades….you did NOT have to do video’s about how your marched on the local HS Administration for some perceived “discrimination”. Not a LOT of women applied to State. In the fall of 1963, there were 300 and they actually “gave” them a separate dorm….
Don’t call me a bigot….the admission quotas are the bigoted rules.
BUT….generally speaking…..NCSU is a great school. I have a nephew that is an honors Chem Eng….as is his NCSU wife….and she made 800 on her Math SAT.
Coach Doeren’s blue collar work ethic is really no different from Mikey’s “annihilate the opposition” attitude. You WIN by hard work and toughness.
As Chub Sewell would say…..”Call your next case…..”
03/03/2015 at 8:27 AM #76871GowolvesParticipantMc, Thanks for your critical review. 🙂
I work with numbers not as much with words to paper. I am actually early Gen X but thanks for playing.
03/03/2015 at 9:16 AM #76875McCallumParticipant“but thanks for playing”-Gowolves
If one must employ a constant stream of cliches in place of explaining a position then it must be one hell’va dilemma for you when it comes to picking which pair of skinny jeans to wear for the day.
If one must quote Chub then please use his best quote as it pertains to the new zoo in Asheboro and chapel hill.

03/03/2015 at 10:41 AM #76880TheCOWDOGModeratorLet me try this one more time.
It is a classic line, spoken after a classic beat down of a despised rival.
It hangs alongside other classic memorabilia.
…Nothing more, nothing less. It doesn’t matter who said it. It is part of NC State football lore. Whether Doeren goes tits up or stays until he retires is not consequential.
03/03/2015 at 10:44 AM #76881wufpup76Keymaster03/03/2015 at 10:45 AM #76883JohnGalt78ParticipantIt’s not like we ordered rings for winning the coin toss.
03/03/2015 at 11:42 AM #76892GowolvesParticipantThe hell with skinny jeans I will stick with the parachute pants from the early eighties.
lol
I sure hope you are taking this too seriously.
03/03/2015 at 1:02 PM #76899TeufelWolfParticipantI like it – don’t care who hung it, even though I doubt it was DD. It gives this era of NC State football an identity. It is a good summary #Statement of the current program. It’s an instant classic line. There is no reason to wait several years to embrace it.
03/03/2015 at 1:35 PM #76903MrPlywoodParticipantMaybe some would be happier with a TOB quote – he beat Kerlina a few times.
03/03/2015 at 1:44 PM #76904pakfanistanParticipantMaybe some would be happier with a TOB quote – he beat Kerlina a few times.
Haha, let’s hang up the triple play quote.
03/03/2015 at 1:59 PM #76905MPParticipantI sure hope you are taking this too seriously.
LOL.
He seems (a) to be Quite Serious ! and (b) to love telling people they “must be born in …”. He had me pegged for post-1980 the other day. It gave me a little tingle.
03/03/2015 at 2:27 PM #76907ncsu_kappaParticipantI love the quote but feel the timing of building a trophy-esque wall board is a bit weird. Play the video before games or while recruits visit. Seems a hair short of building a statue when we haven’t done anything yet.
IMHO it seems like its easier to make fun of than inspire especially if things get off to a rocky start next year.
I’ve been wrong before, here is to hoping that it does inspire recruits and players to bring home a championship
03/03/2015 at 2:58 PM #76911WolfanaticParticipantKomrade Kat76, a most excellent choice of the Peoples’ anthem,
??? ??????? ????? ?????????? ??????. Hopefully, this will inspire our Kollectivist team tonight at Littletoilet Arena, to rise up and beat back the reichwing, capitalist (spit) Rethuglikkkans from South Carolakistan. I will break open my daily ration of the Peoples’ Vodka at tipoff, and enjoy the slaughter of the bourgeois (spit, spit) feline savages.03/03/2015 at 3:50 PM #76914BJD95KeymasterIt’s not like we ordered rings for winning the coin toss.
Somewhere, the Holes’ morale coordinator is taking notes.
03/03/2015 at 5:18 PM #76916wufpup76KeymasterForward, Red Army!
03/03/2015 at 5:31 PM #76918TheCOWDOGModeratorYou are speaking to a proud member of the Red Army.
One who’s exploits for the Motherland are actually on display alongside said “Trophy-Esque” wallboards.
I ask, who are these “WE” that have done nothing.
Thoughts as those should buy a one way ticket to Siberia .
Damn Gorbachev.
03/03/2015 at 6:18 PM #76923WolfanaticParticipantPraise be unto Glorious Dear Leader for his edict protecting Nyet Neutrality. Now all of the downtrodden and exploited proles will be able to witness the slaughter of the capitalist (spit) pigs donning orange in Littletoilet Gymnastikum. I see Glorious Next Tuesday on the horizon for the Motherland’s RED team. I will be watching from Agricultural Barn #3 with my fellow komrades as we sharpen our shovels to complete our shovel-ready jobs tomorrow. FORWARD!!!!
03/03/2015 at 7:34 PM #76936tjfoose1ParticipantI’m saying that all that talk about “hard work” is rarely mentioned by people that “work hard”.
Which is relevant here because DD and crew have obviously been doing nothing but sitting on their collective fat ass thinking up cute quotes to build up a “to seem rather than to be” culture.
Sometimes condescending snugness can lead one to attempts of being too cute.
03/04/2015 at 6:37 PM #77602McCallumParticipantIt is national grammar day and though not a grammatical error the proper term would be SMUGNESS.
Snugness would be Gowolves and his relationship to his multiple pairs of skinny jeans.

error the proper term would be SMUGNESS.And yet you were somehow able to figure it out.
You could have stepped outside your condescension and realized like most, that the entry was likely made using a phone and lacked edit functionality. Swipe text entry isn’t always 100% accurate and an erroneous entry can occasionally slip by.
03/06/2015 at 9:12 AM #77728McCallumParticipantHere is a plaque for you. It came out of the 1st floor bathroom in Owen Dorm, 5th stall from the door:
“Here I sit broken hearted.
Came to sh.it but only farted.”Don’t complain to me about your smart phone, the first part of it is anthetical to the owner.

03/06/2015 at 9:51 AM #77731WufpackerParticipantThe proper term would be ANTITHETICAL.
Ironic that you’d make that mistake while trying to call someone else stupid.Delightful.
03/06/2015 at 11:00 AM #77733redisgoodParticipantI think the grammatically correct term is Blowhard.
03/06/2015 at 1:09 PM #77740MPParticipantFrom Urban Dictionary:
Blowhard: Someone who talks a big game for the sole pleasure of instigating an argument without rational backup to his/her point(s)
Douchebag: An individual who has an over-inflated sense of self worth, compounded by a low level of intellegence, behaving ridiculously in front of colleagues with no sense of how moronic he appears.
