Need your help pack nation

Fellow pack fans. I need your help. Years ago the technician published a parody picture of Dean naked with a basketball covering his private area.

I remember going to the old barbore shop on western with my dad and the owner (Milton?) who was a huge state fan had the picture framed.

As my dad has aged (84)he still talks about that picture. I have tried to find a copy, Google link etc.. To no avail.

If anyone can help me find a copy to make an “old man” happy please let me know.

Any idea of the time frame? The Technician has been digitally archived since it’s inception apparently. There’s a search feature as well, but I couldn’t find a picture as you described with a quick search.

Was it one of the April fools editions? That would narrow it down dramatically.

You can find it on the back page of 2/18/1983 edition. Web search for Technician Daily Tar Heel spoof with Dean Smith may help you find the background story on who pulled it off.
