We were very disjointed on offense, under weird/bad travel circumstances. Yet won on the road against at least a Top 7/8 ACC team. That’s a sign of good character.
Now, let’s build on it. Please.
01/07/2014 at 11:03 PM #36194RINGwolfParticipantBJD nice read on the post duke opportunity for us to get a win.
01/07/2014 at 11:04 PM #36195WufpackerParticipantNice gutty win.
01/07/2014 at 11:04 PM #36196BJD95KeymasterThanks, RING. Timing is everything.
01/07/2014 at 11:06 PM #361971.21 JigawattsKeymasterPack wins, Spaceballs is on, and I don’t have to go to work tomorrow. It’s a good night.
01/07/2014 at 11:06 PM #36198ILPackfanParticipantI’d love to see them build on this by pounding the Wahoos in Raleigh.
01/07/2014 at 11:07 PM #36200wufpup76KeymasterAwesome job team … Especially from the free throw line.
Fun to win! Glad they proved me wrong – I definitely did not like our chances tonight.
01/07/2014 at 11:08 PM #36201PrimewolfParticipantI can’t figure out why V can’t get more rebounds. Everyone around him grabs rebounds but V. He doesn’t seem to have the capacity to anticipate a rebound and go after it
01/07/2014 at 11:08 PM #36202elvislivesParticipantThe only thing bad about tonight is that my terrible cable doesn’t get Spaceballs like Jig’s does.
01/07/2014 at 11:10 PM #36203TexpackParticipantNice win. Any road conference win is good. It is so much fun to have a team that plays tough defense on the interior. I really like the three headed monster we are developing inside to support Vandy. This may be a maddening season with the swings in performance of a team this young.
Gott deserves a ton of credit for getting their minds right after what happened on Saturday.
01/07/2014 at 11:10 PM #36204WufpackerParticipantSpaceballs? What channel?
01/07/2014 at 11:11 PM #36205vtpackfanParticipantGood to see some toughness to close out a game. Conference games are most often won by the team that can withstand a lot of ugly and manage to peak at the end. We won with the one of our weaknesses. That’s a sign of a young team developing toward the ultimate goal of rock solid team basketball. Still a work in progress but damn if Gott manages to scrape out W’s along the way each year.
01/07/2014 at 11:12 PM #36206choppack1ParticipantJust when you think you are out. They pull you back in!
Great win by pack. Props to coaching staff and players. Best d I have seen in a while from the pack. We made some mistakes but did lots of little things right that were the difference between winning and losing.
01/07/2014 at 11:12 PM #362071.21 JigawattsKeymasterSpaceballs on AXSTV
01/07/2014 at 11:13 PM #36208JeremyHParticipantDid it seem like no one wanted to win this game? I’m glad they learned to close one out, though. One thing that we do well that we should do more is interior passing among the bigs and forwards, leads to good things.
01/07/2014 at 11:14 PM #36209WufpackerParticipantWTF is AXSTV?
01/07/2014 at 11:17 PM #36210wufpup76KeymasterDefense deserves some kudos tonight, and rebounding … Wasn’t always pretty, but they got the job done.
The 1-2-2 trapping worked well for us.
01/07/2014 at 11:18 PM #362111.21 JigawattsKeymasterYou got me but it’s channel 340 on directv.
01/07/2014 at 11:27 PM #36213vtpackfanParticipantVandy did finish with 11 boards. It looked bad with the Amish Bill Walton having his way at times. Should be noted that our guards managed to slow arguably the best playing guard of the past few weeks. Ever since Grant became ineligible Atkins has become a monster. Dez fits a role that we missed last year after the departure of CJ Williams.
01/07/2014 at 11:31 PM #36214AdventurooParticipantJust finished listening to the Radio Post game. 4 guys in doubles….even though TJ was below his average. Vandy got 11 rebounds.
Coach commented that at the half, ALL the folks that had played had SCORED.
Don’t know how we ended up at the line so much. Almost spooky.
I brought the two “This is OUR State” cups home from Reynolds Women’s game the other day….really thought they were jinxed….but threw them into the “collection” to honor the ladies.
Pulled them out and wrote VICTORY (in RED of course) on them and me and DW enjoying a celebratory night cap.
Wonderful effort. Highly charged game…at least here. I had more nervous energy that had to be worked off….even though I had an almost 2 hour workout at Rex and here….
WOW….what a great win. Gott needs to bottle whatever he did and said….
01/07/2014 at 11:40 PM #36216JohnGalt78ParticipantDamn you Hope, I just can’t quit you.
01/07/2014 at 11:40 PM #36217lushParticipantI haven’t seen the stats yet, but I think being fouled the last 7 or so possessions on purpose will swing those ft numbers.
Still about 20 short of the heels average ft per game
01/07/2014 at 11:52 PM #36219pakfanistanParticipant“I can’t figure out why V can’t get more rebounds. Everyone around him grabs rebounds but V. He doesn’t seem to have the capacity to anticipate a rebound and go after it”
Vandenberg’s timing is horrendous. He either jumps too late, or too early. He also goes after the rebound with one hand and tips it around quite frequently.
01/08/2014 at 8:24 AM #36233TexpackParticipantIf Vandy just keeps doing what he’s been doing (9-12 rebounds, 3-4 blocks plus altered shots, 25 plus minutes, and 6-8 points) we will be just fine.
He’s playing only slightly below the level of Cozell McQueen which I thought was his ceiling this year. Again, Gott has done an excellent job developing a big guy who had underachieved.
