N.C. State (4-0) vs. Richmond Spiders (2-1), 7pm tonight, PNC Arena
TV: Espn3 only

Richmond’s loss this season came @ ODU, a tough team this season. There have been no common opponents for the Pack and Spiders so far this season.
Richmond plays in the usually tough A-10, which managed to get 6 teams into the NCAA Tournament last season. Since making the Sweet 16 in 2011, Richmond has floundered around the .500 mark the past few seasons. They are, however, expected to contend for a potential at-large NCAA berth this season. A win here for the Pack would be solid and look good come tournament selection time.
Richmond is coached by Chris Mooney, whose name was thrown around a bit during the last Pack coaching search … The Spiders are typically aggravating to play, and we should expect to see plenty of zone tonight unless we find a way to bust them out of it.
As for series history, there isn’t much to speak of – at least nothing of relevance to post here (read: I couldn’t really find much. According to sports-reference, we’ve played once since 1979 with the Pack winning, but I couldn’t find the year – or didn’t look too hard for it.)

Richmond, of course, was the first 15 seed to win a game in the NCAA Tournament – winning a memorable game vs. Syracuse and a much younger Jim Boeheim 23 years ago in 1991:
Enjoy the game everyone, and if you’re headed there or if you’re traveling for Thanksgiving please be safe!

11/26/2014 at 11:18 AM #62467WulfpackParticipantShould be a good test.
11/26/2014 at 3:47 PM #62500WolfanaticParticipant^ Indeed, it should be a good test, both from a team and individual standpoint. There should be some good match-ups inside with Anya and Alonzo Nelson-Ododa (6’9″) who is a pretty decent shot blocker in his own right. Freeman and/or Washington taking on second leading scorer T.J. Cline (6’9″) will also be interesting. Cat/Lacey taking on leading scorer Kendall Anthony (16.0 ppg) and ShawnDre’ Jones should also be good tests for them. As wufpup76 alluded to, this is a scrappy, tough Spiders team with a good RPI. I’m banking on State controlling the boards, and think we cover the five.
11/26/2014 at 7:01 PM #62523RickKeymasterMissed the game thread.
Go pack.11/26/2014 at 7:06 PM #62524wufpup76KeymasterGood looking 17-footer by Freeman
11/26/2014 at 7:08 PM #62525wufpup76KeymasterRichmond 100% on open jumpers … not closing on D
11/26/2014 at 7:09 PM #62526TexpackParticipantNot the best perimeter defense early.
11/26/2014 at 7:10 PM #62527wufpup76KeymasterFirst time Anya has faced an opposing center who prefers outside jumpers/3’s … Clearly an adjustment for him.
Could see a lot of Washington tonight if Richmond continues to exploit it and the dude can keep hitting.
11/26/2014 at 7:10 PM #62528WufpackerParticipantYup, we better tighten up on both ends.
11/26/2014 at 7:13 PM #62529bill.onthebeachParticipanthey guys… sorry I’m late…
PACK sounds like they came out of the locker room ready to play tonite….

#NCSU-North Carolina's #1 FOOTBALL school!11/26/2014 at 7:13 PM #62530wufpup76KeymasterWhat a play by Barber … nice!
11/26/2014 at 7:14 PM #62531wufpup76KeymasterTwo on Anya … sh*t
Glad we’re deep
11/26/2014 at 7:15 PM #62532WufpackerParticipantTight foul calling down low is a good lesson for Anya heading toward conf play.
11/26/2014 at 7:16 PM #62533wufpup76KeymasterStan Lewter is correct IMO, if Abu is active he could have a breakout night.
11/26/2014 at 7:17 PM #62534RickKeymasterDefense is not very impressive so far. A lot if wise open jump shots.
11/26/2014 at 7:17 PM #62535wufpup76KeymasterHe missed, but I like seeing Barber take that open 3 … we need him confident shooting out there
11/26/2014 at 7:18 PM #62536wufpup76KeymasterNancy Leibermen-Cline is working our bigs when we’re on D
11/26/2014 at 7:20 PM #62537MrPlywoodParticipantI like the way Abu tracked that ball down and threw the quick out pass, resulting in another swing pass and the score.
11/26/2014 at 7:23 PM #62538WufpackerParticipantTurner’s man wide open…again.
11/26/2014 at 7:24 PM #62539WufpackerParticipantLacey feeling it tonite.
11/26/2014 at 7:26 PM #62540wufpup76KeymasterTheir offense has been very efficient 🙁
11/26/2014 at 7:28 PM #62541RickKeymasterOur Biggs are very under whelming both offensively and defensively..
Lacey can play. We are a guard driven team11/26/2014 at 7:29 PM #62542WufpackerParticipantThose bastards can shoot.
