As best as I can tell, this is the turnover under Gott. Just going to leave this here for reference. 11-12 Painter – transfer (family issues) Harris –

If we are going to see this type of turnover despite tremendous playing time, I don’t see why we don’t fill up the roster with scholarships and let the chips fall where they may. I’d rather have the option of backfilling from the bench than the continual spring scramble. He’s got to be thinking of changing his strategy, doesn’t he?
03/24/2016 at 2:40 PM #101666easParticipantThat should be great news for Gott. Throw some more gas on that dumpster fire please.
03/24/2016 at 2:42 PM #101667graywolfParticipantIf there are no replacements in the near future to replace the twins then the next transfer needs to Gott himself.
Too bad Archie just got a new contract until 2023.03/24/2016 at 3:05 PM #101671ryebreadParticipantWell, there’s the two more so we can hit our obligatory 3 early departures.
I expect we’ll fill two coaching positions as well. One is announced. One is pure speculation.
All is well. We’ve made two Sweet 16s.
03/24/2016 at 3:11 PM #101673KhanParticipantI like the out of the box thinking here. The revolving door strategy is bound to pay off at some point. Contract extension inbound?
03/24/2016 at 3:14 PM #101674StateRed44ParticipantArchie won’t be at Dayton until 2023. No way he doesn’t have an out.
03/24/2016 at 3:29 PM #101678easParticipantThis is going to be an interesting thread. I’m going to get popcorn from the grocery store. Unless they are leaving because we picked up 2 great players to replace them we have to say this is the norm under Gott. It doesn’t matter really as we are who we have been for so long. Oh, need to get butter for the popcorn.
03/24/2016 at 3:38 PM #10167944rulesParticipantCrap. Now I’m in my own emotional death spiral too. There’s no hope.

03/24/2016 at 4:36 PM #101686Thompson44ParticipantI have read nothing about the Martin Brothers transferring. Is there confirmation on that, and if that is the case. GOTT needs to go.

The hell with popcorn.

Go to pack pride. They have a statement from Gott.
03/24/2016 at 4:45 PM #101692EdMarParticipantLooks bad… but did any of the ones that transferred played a lot at their new schools? Noticed that Tyler Lewis rode the pine, played one minute in their last game. Purvis was decent…did he do Ok with his new team? Painter? Harris? Raymond?.
I think the transfer/going to NBA problem is pretty common. The Winston-Salem Paper had a recent write about WF and they are averaging 2-3 a year…transfers, suspensions, etc.03/24/2016 at 5:01 PM #101694WTNYParticipantOther schools cheat to get ’em in, we need to cheat to convince ’em not to leave…
How many non-walkons have stayed four years recently? Vandy, Wood, ??
03/24/2016 at 5:04 PM #101695mak4dpakParticipantBlame it on the coach, but the guys are legends in their own mind. They want to be the stars on the team, yet when given the chance to prove themselves, they show their star potential, and as previously mentioned the transfers have done little to change that at their new schools. It is unfortunate, but hopefully we can find some transfers, or undecided high school seniors who can make an impact, as a short bench will again produce a team who is unable to be 100% for the entire game, due to fatigue.

What’s recently? Since Gott I can’t think of any that played all four years here.
Last I remember are Howell, CJ Williams, Vandy and Wood.
03/24/2016 at 5:46 PM #101701ryebreadParticipantRaymond, Painter, Harris, Lewis and Purvis were all on teams that made the NCAA tournament. Raymond and Lewis contributed lightly but the rest were starters.
Harrow never played for Gott and left when Sid was fired. He had the stint at Kentucky, then went to Georgia Southern and had a nice run. Ended up in the tournament there playing 2 guard.
TDT was right when he left — a recruiter and not a coach. People didn’t want to listen then, but I think people are starting to see the things that were obvious in year two…….
03/24/2016 at 6:00 PM #101704Whiteshoes67ParticipantNot surprised. its only addition by subtraction if he can bring in complementary pieces and win. Show me. I’m not a believer and haven’t been since year 2
03/24/2016 at 6:12 PM #101707choppack1ParticipantI always thought it was hilarious that the message boards dismissed tdt’s comments. One person had this man as a basketball coach his last 2 season, the other party didn’t play one minute with him…yet, some were confident they knew better than his first hand experience.
03/24/2016 at 6:25 PM #101708john of spartaParticipantthree more years of this.
unless DY does a diva move.03/24/2016 at 6:26 PM #101709TheCOWDOGModeratorAgreed, ‘shoes, addition by subtraction. I probably give Gottfried a little more space ’cause I really don’t give much of a sh#the whether he stays or goes. I just look at things the way I do, and when the family says stuff like, “not fitting into the offense” tells me everything.
Hope Gottfried can pull a horseshoe out of his ass, and give it a puncher’so chance.
03/24/2016 at 6:48 PM #101714Whiteshoes67ParticipantThe loss of Abu will hurt more if it comes to pass. One can only pull so many diamonds out the arse
03/24/2016 at 7:05 PM #101717easParticipantAbu going to the NBA Draft according to ESPN. Wow, 4 players in a week
03/24/2016 at 7:36 PM #101725SeaWolf72ParticipantIt’s a national epidemic….last year there were over 700 transfers. We are in the ‘participation trophy generation’…..penalty is not stiff enough for transfers. Sit out a year and loss of year eligibility would slow this down. These kids are playing for themselves not for the school that recruited them. No loyalty from the players (or coaches either). The free agency got this crap started. That’s why I have trouble watching MLB anymore. Rosters change like revolving doors.
03/24/2016 at 7:43 PM #101728RickKeymasterExpected responses.
The players suck.
Not going to miss them.
Every team deals with this.
It’s not on the coach. -
