Apparently, Ol Roy doesn’t anticipate any sanctions for men’s bball.
I tried to post the link last night. (Site still won’t let me… conspiracy?) Roy comes across as extremely smug, more so than usual. Where’s my BB gun?
04/04/2016 at 12:10 PM #102242WolfWiz11ParticipantYea I had the same issue, Ply. A friend speculates that he’s so smug bc the NCAA has framed the violations as pertaining to the University, not the athletics program. But I find that argument very flimsy. Seems like a slippery slope . . . .

If that is their finding every university should set up a degree to keep their players eligible. As long as you let one or two students in you would be fine. It would be the death of the “student athlete”.
Frankly, I expect something like this though.04/04/2016 at 12:17 PM #102244GeneParticipantI hope all the time the NCAA is taking is worth it.
I’d hate for UNC-Cheat to skate like Miama (FL) recently did.
They botched the investigation regarding Miami (FL)’s connections with Shapiro and Miami (FL) skated because of the NCAA’s failures to adhere to proper guidelines in the investigation.
04/04/2016 at 1:14 PM #102246pakfanistanParticipantHere’s a little of that christmas tree I didn’t throw out until march and didn’t ever water for the fire.

04/04/2016 at 1:49 PM #102247BJD95KeymasterIt’s days like this that I’m really grateful that I don’t f-ing own a gun.
Because MY GOD I don’t see how I would get to tomorry without it being happily warm.
04/04/2016 at 2:41 PM #102248FergusWolfParticipantnow would be the ideal (for UNC) time for the NCAA to decide that penalizing players that weren’t part of the program at the time of the violations is NOT GOOD FOR BUSINESS, also, they will conclude that stripping past teams of wins and/or championships amounts to no penalty at all.
So, as a result of this, the NCAA will fine UNC $5000, and smack them on the nose with a rolled-up newspaper.
04/04/2016 at 4:47 PM #102252KhanParticipantMove along, folks. Nothing to see here…
…unless, of course, you’re eagerly awaiting another banner-hanging celebration in the Dean Dome. In that case, carry on.
04/04/2016 at 5:38 PM #102255TheCOWDOGModeratorI’m going to try this again… (Stay away Rick. This time it’s being screen shot.)
I believe that some of you have been conditioned so badly, that UNx’s own PR team couldn’t have managed better.
Besides, ‘Nova walks away with this thing, anyway.
04/04/2016 at 5:43 PM #102256ncsu1987ParticipantFor the first time in 44 years I will not watch the NCAA basketball championship game. I vowed before the tourney began that I would not watch those cheaters, I haven’t yet, and I won’t tonight.
Like I needed another reason to hate those f@ckers…

I think its going to be a great game. Both teams are playing well. Not sure I understand the “boycott” angle some have.
04/04/2016 at 5:47 PM #102259ncsu1987ParticipantHey, ‘dog. Nova’s D seems to have been the difference this yr. My fear has been that tighter whistles would force them to back off, as they can’t match UNX depth.
Agree 100% they win going away on level playing field.
You expect something I don’t?
Also agree with you that they’re going to get hammered once the process runs to completion.

You can screen shot anything you want. If you insult someone I will delete it.
I sm sick of arguing with you about it. This is the last time I respond to you. Follow that simple rule and you won’t hear from me.04/04/2016 at 6:45 PM #102262BJD95KeymasterI haven’t watched a second of the Holes so far. Maybe I will watch a little tonight. Maybe not. Trailer Park Boys S10 and Better Call Saul sounds better for avoiding an aneurysm.
04/04/2016 at 7:02 PM #102264tractor57ParticipantFor better or worse I will watch. I like good basketball and this seems to be a good match.

Stockholm Syndrome ‘Dog, plain and simple. Help me.
04/04/2016 at 7:12 PM #102266TheCOWDOGModeratorT57. It should be worth watching. Once the pre game BSC is over, I am compelled to watch.

Help is on the way, brotha! But I gotta make it fast les my words wind up in the Puget Sound!
04/04/2016 at 7:33 PM #102268MrPlywoodParticipantMore like the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and yeah, make it quick ’cause scientists recently confirmed the existence of a major fault line under there. :O
Hopefully the Holes will feel the big one, complete with years of aftershocks, before we do.

I’d suggest you run it by one of your fellow politburo before you go deleting one of his posts. Not saying you need permission, but a second opinion might be beneficial to the community at large.
04/04/2016 at 7:41 PM #102272pakfanistanParticipantNo offense meant, but…..
You can’t have my spot as Rick’s antagonist. I earned that.
04/04/2016 at 7:56 PM #102274PK PollarParticipantHave fun playing with your little red button.
The community can’t handle a diversity of opinions?

where’s my f’ing post I just submitted ????I didn’t touch it
04/04/2016 at 8:21 PM #102278AdventurooParticipantI really thought this was a free exchange of info….and some of the posts go pretty far out. Some of us have ALSO had posts deleted that had some political comparisons and hopefully, some humorous and valid points.
I guess that since I saw it ONCE and POOF, it was gone, it did not meet certain standards. SFN used to be a pretty good site, but many of my friends have deserted it due to some “changes”.
FWIW, if you do some googling, Mr. Emmert, the NCAA CEO who is OUTRAGED at the NC HB2 law and will take it INTO serious consideration had NO ISSUES (as it was NOT publicized and used for Political Fodder) in KEEPING the NCAA FF in Houston. I assume that MANY of the posters also know, since the MSM reported it….YEAH, that Houston’s City Council voted in the SAME LGBT XYZ law that Charlotte did. BUT, the Houston residents VOTED IT DOWN….67 – 33. YET, the NCAA is there….as is the NFL, MLB, NBA, etc. SOME of the same folks that wading in today.
Mr. Emmert, now makes more than ORW. His NCAA is a NON Profit. He and his staff and all NCAA Employees make, in toto, over $60 Million annually. The NCAA banked, way back in 2011, over $30 Million to their Reserves. That was what MOST would call PROFIT. Their Expenses (including College payouts) were $30 MILLION LESS than their income.
SO, if you also do some googling, you should KNOW that the NCAA has a Reserve Fund (Stocks, MF, Bonds, Short Term securities, MMA, etc.) of over ONE BILLION DOLLARS. Now WHY do they need that much. YOU tell me.
BUT, if you think that they are going to destroy one of their CASH COWS and expose Academic Fraud, then the Tooth Fairy might be your choice for President.
ALSO, do some googling…..John Wooden ran a program that was fraught with both CASH payments and Academic malfeasance. Check out the writers who reported on this. Golenbach was NOT amongst them.
I will watch the game tonight and probably pull against ORW….I will NOT pull for them.
IF ORW decides to RETIRE and REST….then you will know that the NCAA has been backed into a corner and they can NOT keep the lid on the pot anymore and that there is an undercurrent of OTHER schools that want them to make UNC an example. IF, and I am NOT going to say or even THINK, WHEN….then there will be meaningful sanctions.
MOST of you should KNOW that DES brought in the AFAM program. It was being used by KANSAS. John Swofford shephered it through the UNC Faculty Senate. ORW, brought Kansas’ CHIEF Academic Guru, Wayne Welden (memory)….as his MOST valuable resource. Wayne then fine tuned it. BUT Debra and her cohorts had already laid the ground work and were “street smart” and working the system…..
My opinion, and I think realistic….NOTHING MEANINGFUL will come out of the NCAA NOA and Investigation…..UNLESS the AD’s and Prez’s of a MAJORITY of schools want it. AND, if ALL are abusing it, then UNC will get by with less of a wrist slap than the FSU Coach who pulled his first team to rest them from the ACC Tourney….and be ready for the NCAA.
Read on….this MIGHT disappear…..
