The Final Four obviously is this weekend. The ACC has two of the four teams in Syracuse and North Carolina. This week has also brought out lots of dis

04/02/2016 at 5:40 PM #102187RickKeymasterI hope this means something actually happens to them. I am not convinced shutting meaningful will.
Interesting the timing on the investigation being done in a ‘few weeks’ very convenient.

it means Uncle Roy “retires” — or tells the POB to shove it, he’s taking his “buyout” to the Wrightsville Beach….I’m cooking some oysters and GOTT a cooler full of cold beer waiting for him…

04/03/2016 at 8:14 AM #102206ryebreadParticipantI heard at least two exchanges last night regarding the scandal. Both Nance and Rafferty seemed to be trying to sweep it under the rug. CBS clearly had their talking point and positions.
Expect to be woefully disappointed in the outcome. When guys like Kane are finding discrepancies that the NCAA have seemingly missed it is because the NCAA doesn’t want to find them.
The timing on this has seemingly been decided for quite some time. It was rumored before the season started that nothing would come out until May, giving UNC one more run at a title.
04/03/2016 at 11:53 AM #102208easParticipantExactly…the cash cow will not be put down by the NCAA. They may or may not get a slap on the hand but too much money will be lost if the flagship sinks. This crap has been going on forever all while we get worse and they get better. I want the ship to sink hard and fast but it’s not going to happen. I wish we had something else to discuss but we don’t because we suck. I love my Pack and hate the holes! However, at the end of the day the results haven’t changed. It is what it is. They cheat and dominate with a future that will remain the same. We bitch (we have good reason to) and our future remains remains the same. Doesn’t mean I’m less of a fan but I’ve finally seen the light. Or should I say accepted it.
$hit or get off the pot Wolfpack! Let’s make a move, change things up, switch conferences or something. Someone in charge grow a pair and move forward. The Holes are going to make it through this guy’s without much of a scratch. That’s what they do and Walmart still sales their sweatshirts in California. The machine is massive and dirty. Go Pack!
04/03/2016 at 12:08 PM #102209wolfpack92owenParticipantNothing significant is going to happen to unc. I think one would be foolish at this point to assume otherwise.
04/03/2016 at 6:23 PM #102213FergusWolfParticipantI predict that not only will UNC get off Scott free, but they will actually be awarded several national championships (most notedly those for basketball in 1974 and 1983) due to the inconvenience heaped on UNC during the lengthy investigations.
04/03/2016 at 7:17 PM #102215pakfanistanParticipantWe haven’t even seen the final notice of allegations yet…..

I hope you are right and will admit I am wrong if this happens. I just don’t see it. The NCAA even timed this so UNC could make this run at a title. Why would they help an organization they are about to hammer?

….that’s not what he said either time. I’d prove it but…
04/03/2016 at 8:41 PM #102225hdhntr91ParticipantEven if the cheats get hammered, they have built a winning machine with the Carolina way and it will continue. The brand has been built on out right cheating.
04/03/2016 at 8:43 PM #102226easParticipantI agree timing is everything and they are holding off until the championship run is complete. Too much money at stake from the lose of a cash cow. The NCAA and heck everyone else in the US (unless you live under a rock) knows about all the wrong that went on over at the Hill. The NCAA has known for a long time and they really don’t give 2 $hits. If they did the hammer would have come down a long time ago. Let’s worry about how to fix the ongoing dumpster fire in Raleigh….
04/03/2016 at 8:54 PM #102229ryebreadParticipantI know I’m pulling for Nova like no other tomorrow night.

04/03/2016 at 9:42 PM #102231blpackParticipantLet’s go Nova! That said, I’m thinking similar to tex on this. They will get beat down for a while. What I don’t see happening is changing their behavior. They will go right back to cheating like crazy under another faux program and telling everyone who will listen their stuff doesn’t stink. It really pathetic, but that is who they are and at this point they don’t believe they have ever done anything wrong. They will bitch about the NCAA sanctions for years and blame the NCAA for everything from the Kennedy assassination to the Great Recession but in the end they are who we thought they were. Liars, cheats, thieves and masters of propaganda.
04/03/2016 at 10:46 PM #102232TexpackParticipantI passed some Tar Hole fan with his puke blue window sticker and NC liscence plate on the way to the airport this afternoon to pick up my wife. I really wanted to flip the guy off, but I resisted. I’m leaving town one the first flight out in the morning so I won’t have to be here if they win.
The thing people have to remember when the punishment talk starts up is that it’s FIVE LEVEL 1 violations. If the NOA is amended for anything other than ADDING more violations, it will be historic. The NCAA didn’t adjust the timing on this to let the holes play, the holes pulled their self reporting of violations in the transgender tiddlywinks program to stall the resolution of their case. They did this because Roy would have needed up with zero NC’s if they hadn’t. This one is all about Roy Dadgum Williams.
04/04/2016 at 3:33 AM #102234tractor57ParticipantI have no idea what the eventual punishment will be but it is obvious or friends at the dump on the hump have played the system. They have strung this out and may get a natty in basketball tonight. I tend to agree with Texpack but once again time will tell.
04/04/2016 at 9:21 AM #102236PapaJohnParticipantIt seems to me this is the worst abuse in history, just because it went on so long and affected so many players. So, from that perspective, it’s hard to imagine the NCAA being able to get away with a minor punishment.
But there is no doubt that UNC is one of the premier programs in college bball, they are rich, and are throwing everything they have at surviving this – I keep thinking about a murder trial in which we all felt pretty confident he did it, but “the glove didn’t fit.” I’m worried they will buy their way out of appropriate punishment.Would love to be proven wrong.
04/04/2016 at 10:16 AM #102237FergusWolfParticipantWent to a family lunch on Saturday. My sister-in-law (who is a Carolina grad) was proclaiming the unfairness if the situation that they were going to have to play a bunch of cheaters (meaning Syracuse) on Saturday.
Apparently she is completely unaware (or blissfully ignorant) that the university she got her degree from was happy to cheapen the value of her degree by giving them away to athletes with no work required…
Or, maybe she also enjoyed the “no work” classes…I’ll have to ask next time.
04/04/2016 at 10:58 AM #102239WolfWiz11ParticipantApparently, Ol Roy doesn’t anticipate any sanctions for men’s bball. Scoot on over to the ESPN front page.
04/04/2016 at 11:33 AM #102240StateRed44ParticipantHe puts on a brave face, has he been tipped off? This probably means there will be wet noodle wrist slaps and he can still cry foul in the media.
