By now, everyone in the SFN community is aware that Kevin Keatts is our new men’s basketball head coach. Obviously, only time will reveal if Keatts pr

03/18/2017 at 3:21 PM #121204McCallumParticipantRaised in an age of AAU ball, run and gun.
Short shelf life at Louisville with one of the biggest scum bags in basketball.
He knows the ends and outs of talent and recruiting talent.
Expect State to be long on talent and short on defense.
Defense is the measure of toughness.

GOTT Keatts!
03/18/2017 at 4:02 PM #121209tractor57ParticipantShow me results. We are in as better place than the last 2 searches but the answer is results. I think not a bad hire but results matter.
03/18/2017 at 4:04 PM #121210Hawkeye WhitneyParticipantHoping he is a huge success and will be our coach for a long time. There were going to be some unknowns with any hire, but this one doesn’t leaving me scratching my head like the last two search results.
03/18/2017 at 4:18 PM #121211StateRed44ParticipantEnd result better than last 2. Best hire in a while, I’ll take it.
03/18/2017 at 4:27 PM #121214rtpack24ParticipantArchie was the number one target from the week before Gott was fired. There was communication between Archie’ people and NC State for sometime. I think it is obvious that apparently Mr Miller was not interested in taking the job. Once that was clear DY moved quickly and in my opinion landed a very good coach. Keatts took a program that finished 9-23 the year before and was co-champion for the regular season. He followed that with two more regular season championships plus two more conf tournament championships. This year he won the conf. tournament by beating the second place team Coll of Charleston in the championship game that happened to be played in their arena. When he was the assoc. head coach at Louisville, they went to two final 4’s plus won a national championship. In 2013 he was voted the #3 best recruiter(asst.coaches) in the nation. He is connected as anyone in college basketball.
03/18/2017 at 4:53 PM #121223WolfsrudelParticipantI would think that the expectations were clearly conveyed to Coach Keatts. Since he is now our guy, obviously he feels that he is up to the challenge of leading our team. He could have pulled a Cal on us and lobbied UNC-W for a raise to stay there. Why else leave a place that your job is safe and probably would be for years to come and take a job with the high expectations? Welcome to the Wolfpack family Coach!
03/18/2017 at 7:12 PM #121259RickKeymasterThree years at a low major college is the best we can do?
Over paid and too long a contract.
Yow is a nightmare.03/18/2017 at 7:12 PM #121260TheAliasTrollParticipant6 year contract. Objectively speaking, if this hire is successful he’ll need to exceed 4 tourney appearances in his 6 years AND 2 sweet 16s. Let’s see what ya got young blood.

That’s Coach K2T2…
If he can persuade Mr. Smith to spend one more year in West Rawlee, then that’s a homerun at his first AB…
Would be the right move for Mr. Smith as well.
POP!!!

Not happening, he’s already hired an agent.

There ya go, AT. Absolutely. Set the sails.
However, the length of contract don’t mean jack no mo’, and 2.2 doesn’t either. It’s chump change.

Yes but…
Six years solves the AD transition issue nicely…
2.2M / 700K = 3x
Not Bad at all when you look at from the bottom up…
plus add in the intangibles — the pluses that Rawlee has over ILM…
Coach K2T2 can go to the Beach, any Beach, anytime he wants…

Hows the spring training? Any signs of a challenger to them Cubbies?
Running with the Indians.
Mac, martinis make me roll down cliffs, I have experience. Took a lay of the land already…survivability on the plus side.
03/18/2017 at 8:44 PM #121278mak4dpakParticipantMaybe a good thing Smith is leaving anyway. He is a talented player, but many times tried to do too much, and play the hero, which many times the others stood back and waited for just that. So that could have been a distraction, we won’t deal with next year. As for speaking of his undersized team at UNCW, well that was there. With the ACC, and great recruiting for which he is known, we should have no problem with size, if all return, minus Smith and the seniors. Plus keeping the incoming recruits. Next year might be a nice surprise, and having the right coaching assistants, which could also improve the defense. The man ain’t stupid. Success comes from intelligence. And that he has been everywhere.
03/18/2017 at 8:58 PM #121287duckfatrulesParticipantNext big questions
1.) who is k2t2 going to hire as assistants?
2.) who will be back among the current players, (not counting anya and smith)?
If anya were coming back could you imagine him running as much as they say k2t2 makes them run in practice?
3.) who will be new?03/18/2017 at 9:08 PM #121291TheCOWDOGModerator* That was me unintentionally stepping on AT’s post.
