The roller coaster also known as Wolfpack Basketball takes to the court against LSU tonight in what head coach Mark Gottfried has called “the greatest

03/19/2015 at 9:33 AM #80361BJD95KeymasterI like Gott’s “showman” aspect. It’s a good selling point for the program, and keeps the team from getting their buttholes too tight before the games (remember the HWSNBN team that missed like 20 layups in that game against Cal, I think it was?).
Really liked the pictures in the paper today, all our guys smiling. They looked PROUD to be there., and happy to experience the moment together (not lazy and satisfied, there IS a difference). Lacey talked about it today, about how Gott balances correcting the lapses with picking them back up and how it helps them not feel like their coach has given up on them (and thus nobody tunes him out).
03/19/2015 at 9:36 AM #80362PapaJohnParticipantTruly the Greatest Show on Earth. At least at my house. And this is the greatest weekend in sports. At least in my house.
That Dayton / Boise State game last night was a ton of fun. And I think it proved the value of the home court. The game was played in Dayton. But it was still very well played. I was kind of rooting for Archie, but also kind of rooting for BS because we beat them. So didn’t really care. Just enjoyed good basketball.
03/19/2015 at 9:49 AM #80364Tuffy2ParticipantPapaJohn- I here ya on pulling for Archie as I did to. As far as pulling for a team we beat it really only matters when getting to the Tournament. We are here now and I hope we play like we can.
By the way, does anyone know what time Saturday we would play if we win tonight? I can’t find the time where I have looked. I thank you ahead of time for the info. GO PACK….
03/19/2015 at 9:59 AM #80365PapaJohnParticipant^ Yea, I get that. But it’s still kind of fun to see the teams we beat progress. And that would have been the first NCAAT win ever for Boise State. That would have been fun. However, Boise State is unlikely to win it all now. LOL.

2nd round3rd round game times are TBA until1st round2nd round games are completed.Judging solely from past history and the fact that ‘Nova/Lafayette play the 1st game of the late session, I would guess a potential Saturday game would be the later session (7ish or 9ish depending upon what TV dictates), with the earlier Saturday game at the same location b/w the winners of ND/N’Eastern and Texas/Butler (diff region, but same game location).
I’m at least 50% or less confident in the above information.
03/19/2015 at 10:24 AM #80367Alpha WolfKeymasterthat would have been the first NCAAT win ever for Boise State.
Maybe they need to play on a solid blue court to get that first win.
03/19/2015 at 10:33 AM #80368TexpackParticipantI think Saturday game times will be a function of how TV wants to arrange the games once they see what the match-ups are.
I’m just glad we are playing tonight. I was afraid that the collapse of last year would be the last NCAA game Texpack Sr. would get to see the Pack play. I’m hoping for a solid effort tonight. I’d relish the shot at at #1 seed this weekend. This has been a fun team to watch develop and getting to the second weekend would be a critical boost to next year.
03/19/2015 at 10:38 AM #80370BJD95KeymasterIn the A-10 tourney, the Fightin’ Archies scratched out a lot of similar ugly wins. But hey, survive and advance. I like how Archie made the NC State connection with Terry Gannon at said A-10 tourney, so I’m pulling for him too. Always happy to see an alum make good, and it would be bad Karma to hope for his light to stay hidden under a bushel in case we need him in the future.
Comrades, don’t forget…Everton vs. Dynamo Kyiv (Live from the war zone!) at 2EST on FS1, or streaming on Fox Sports Go if’n your tv is…otherwise occupied. SUPPORT YOUR ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE SOCCER PACK, or at least drink nervously with me. Everton is the last English team alive in European footy, strangely enough. That hasn’t happened since I found the Toffee light.

True, but we are very unlikely to be the very first game, I would think. As much I would like to save the channel flipping options for later, the quick turn around would suck for us (though Nova never uses a deep rotation, they will hardly be gassed after tonight’s laugher).
03/19/2015 at 10:44 AM #80373BJD95KeymasterAnd since we are talking about The Greatest:
03/19/2015 at 10:46 AM #80374Alpha WolfKeymasterYou had me confused for a second…usually the home team is listed first in footy listings. I plan to click back and forth to the game between watching hoops. Saturday is the big one for me, when United goes to Anfield to play Liverpool.
As for Archie, I’ve heard three Syracuse fans mention his name in the last week. He’s not going to be an unknown for a lot longer. Question is, can Arch recruit with the big boys?
03/19/2015 at 11:09 AM #80378JasonPParticipantNot on the Archie-to-State bandwagon, but what if Dayton ponied up the $$$ to keep Archie? How motivated is he to leave Dayton and the A-10 – as in, does he take the first high paying job offer to come along (Bama, maybe)? Money talks, but A-10 is good quality ball and he’s a western-PA kid, so I can’t automatically assume he jumps after this season. Maybe Greg Marshall, and to an extent Brad Stevens, have set a new precedent for staying at small-but-quality bball first schools…
03/19/2015 at 11:16 AM #80379MISTA WOLFParticipantThe game Saturday will be 5:30pm to 7:30pm. I’m nervous as sh*t here at school about tonight. I decided that today and tomorrow are worksheet days. No teaching quadratic equations till Monday. I believe we can make it to next week and beyond but my mind will not be blown if we falter tonight. Go Pack. BJD, I’m looking forward to adult beverages once I leave here. Drink one for me!
03/19/2015 at 11:24 AM #80380BJD95KeymasterVery relevant for the next 4 days:

03/19/2015 at 11:51 AM #80382wufpup76KeymasterHey Alpha –
Would you mind if we used this as the Thursday games open thread? I might edit the title to append that if so.
03/19/2015 at 11:58 AM #80383BJD95KeymasterAlpha – whip the Shite on Saturday, and keep them out of the CL. Their whining would sustain me all summer (especially when Everton qualifies from their imminent Europa title). Like the ACCT final, the enemy of my enemy is my friend! 😀
03/19/2015 at 12:17 PM #80386wufpup76KeymasterNotre Dame – Northeastern up first! Two good 3-point shooting teams, could see a lot of them. ND offense is fun to watch.
Cheats take on Harvard at 7:20 in the battle for the ‘Moving Forward‘ trophy
Then of course our game at the end of the night. Louisville, Duke, and UVa all tip tomorrow.
03/19/2015 at 12:19 PM #80387TexpackParticipantNortheastern was the last team we beat in 1984. That team featured Reggie Lewis and Head Coach Jim Calhoun.
03/19/2015 at 12:34 PM #80388wufpup76KeymasterEntire ND frontcourt – such as it is – in foul trouble already. Auguste and Colson both with 2 fouls each very early
03/19/2015 at 12:37 PM #80389WufpackerParticipantSt.Pats hangover.
03/19/2015 at 12:43 PM #80390TexpackParticipantInteresting sideline reporter choice given Ms. Jacobson’s history with ND.

Heh. This is our announcing crew tonight. The crew was originally announced with Lewis Johnson listed as the sideline reporter and not Jacobson … so I dunno what happened there.
