Just don’t let them see the fort Wayne tape. Crazy that a team can play 2 games and be so much different. Tough to get 19 year old kids on the same page every night. Hopefully we can use the loss to motivate our kids too and we will be fine.
Put however much stock you want in this, but in October USA Today had Illinois 12th out of 14 B10 teams.

I put zero stock in it. Nothing more than October noise.
When a few of SFN began the piss and moan of transfers after last year, ( you know who you are.)
…Did it ever occur to you that this ’16-’17 version might have been even better off with the 2 other upperclassmen leaving, that sent you into apoplectic shock, over the thought?
Leadership on the floor is best handled by the guys with experience, no ?
Not in this case. The newbs might figure it out.
Interesting thought. If this team is going to make it to the promised land, it is going to come from all of the new guys. And that includes Kapita and 7. We do need Abu and he really is working hard but…let’s just say he needs to study hard because he is going to need that degree. And Beejay…hahahahaha
Interesting observation, indeed, but it’s also a case of…
Nowhere to go…
Nowhere to hide….
There is something to be said for players constantly leaving. They do seem to get worse defensively they longer they are under Gott.
Yeah, Kyle Washington transferred because of some things that wasn’t going his way. Seems it worked out for him. Kyle is averaging 16.3 ppg and 9.4 rpg up in Cincinnati and led his team to an upset win over Iowa State last night 🙂
Kyle couldn’t beat out BJ for playing time. So he left, imagine that. Kids don’t buy into team ball and pine time unless they are at Kentucky, UNC, or Duke it seems. I liked Kyle but we made a sweet 16 that year and beat Villanova a #1 seed. Can’t argue with Gott’s rotation towards the end of that year. Maxed out results.
