In the spirit of “never”…never has the old adage (which I believe cowdog himself has repeated) – what game is the most important? The next one.

As bad as las week was, it will be nothing but a distant memory if we win 3 or more of our next 5 games.

We lose this game and things will get ugly. We win this game and the atmosphere will be festive on the 5th.

BC is good enough defensively to hang around (one of the best in the country) and our offense has to play much better than it did vs Louisville for the first 2 quarter or we could be heading for humiliation.

Sadly enough for bc – we may be the offense they have played to date so look out.

Home cookin’ never looked so good.
Eagle soup is on the menu (careful though, I think they give you Federal time for cooking eagles).

L’ville looked like they knew what play we were going to run in the first 2 quarters when we were trying to run the ball.
When we were forced to pass, they weren’t as fortunate. Knowing a team is going to pass (unless it’s designated) isn’t the same as knowing the play when a team is going to rush.

Here’s an interesting article to do with stealing signs, i.e., play calls:

Hurry up offense might thwart the benefit of signal stealing.

I’ll see your eight, Mr. Monies, sirs, and I’ll raise you nine.

How about nine pieces of eight. Just to keep with the “eight” theme. Nine you say? I assume that means safe harbors.

We’ll beat BC. Hopefully we do it in a way that gets some confidence back. Go Pack!

We need to not only win, but kick a little ass to get our swagger back. That’s important for the stretch run.

You know those O-linemen are embarrassed and intending to redeem themselves.

Prescod who replaced Richardson for the L’ville game was State’s highest graded O-lineman. He’s lost 25 pounds since the end of last season and looks to be in terrific shape for the first time he’s been here. Could be interesting.

CD, that English 111 is really paying off for you. Seriously. I thought I knew how to write before I took it, but I found out I knew nothing and have always felt it was one of the most beneficial courses I ever took. I know good writing when I read it.

    Well said, O Capitan.

Da ville anticipate our plays? We have seen this before under Canada. Jet sweep becomes ineffective as the season wears on and the competition heats up. Pass routes become stale as opponents know our tendencies.

Superior coaching, statistical tendencies, AND/OR sign stealing???

Whatever, Damn the Eagles, Full Steam Ahead!!

According to Stan Freiberg’s “US History – Pt 1”, the Wild Turkey was the Nation’s symbol. Eagle’s were for roasting. When the first Thanksgiving celebration was planned, the State Department gave the catering contract to a connected large donor. They subbed it out to a non-documented firm. The wife’s owner had a crush on a high ranking US Official. Rather than supervise the preparation, she had a sordid encounter with him
As a result, the recently crossed the border cook slaughtered Teddie, the National Bird and stuffed him with leftover Tacos from the last job.
The mistake was discovered and history was rewritten. A recent WikiLeaks data dump contained videos of Monica and her chief cook conniving the storyline to cover their shenanigans.
Eddie, the main course, was then thrust into his character that we know today.
Moral of this….rectify history and destroy Eddie….lest the mighty Doeren’s dauntless lads be dubbed…. Teddie.
And to all, a good night.

How soon after the games does ESPN3/WatchESPN put the replays up? Looks like I’ve got prior commitments Saturday at the orders of the big cheese (wife).

Going to be hard for me to get over that game with Louisville. If they stole our signals, it was unnecessary. Doeren and Drink hamstrung the team with both playcalling and the absolute refusal to put McClendon in with a different offensive scheme. Nothing was working offensively yet they kept going outside, knowing full well Louisville had the speed advantage. They get an excuse because we played a top 5 team away, a week after losing a heartbreaker. Well, I think they threw in the towel, the likes of which I haven’t seen in a long time. Not to at least try combining an interior rushing attack with Dayes and a different look at QB was inexcusable. 17-0 after the first quarter and no momentum means the game plan ain’t working. But giving Meyers and Locklear passing attempts was totally worth it right?

I think we beat BC, simply because they’re the worst offensive team in the league. Maybe our defense can get some confidence back after last week and go into FSU on better footing. If Finley’s tendencies are indeed known, then BC’s defense will take advantage and D&D will hopefully have a light turned on regarding changing up the QB situation.

the absolute refusal to put McClendon in with a different offensive scheme.

I draw a conclusion from that fact that is far different than yours. Coaches won’t keep their jobs long if they’re not playing the best that they have.

How far different a conclusion? After a 17-0 1st Q in which State was out-gained 244 to -1 in yardage, keeping Finley in at QB, neglecting the running game and interior attack is playing the best how? Going into half at 44-0 is playing their best how? 14 yards total on the ground…I think they – D&D – left “best” in Raleigh and just shrugged their way through the majority of that game.

I’m glad we’re back at home and the weather for tailgating and catching a game should be pretty darn ideal too.

On the field I feel pretty good about this game, but I always worry about a back-up QB playing and we get hit with something we didn’t prepare for (seems like I’ve seen that play out countless times). If our D is in the right frame of mind it shouldn’t matter too much as the past 2 weeks showed me that we DO have the ability to hang with some pretty good offenses (not ALL the time mind you).

Offensively, I want to see us run all over them. I know that’s their strength, but after last week we need to rebuild the confidence in our running game for the stretch run. Hopefully, we can make that happen, but if we struggle then I’d like to see McClendon sprinkled in to see if a different look changes things.

To the point of many here, improved in-game coaching is something I want to see. Games like BC, Wake, and Maryland have always seemed to the biggest headaches for me. Not just because of the WTF losses, but because of what we did or didn’t do.

Let’s hope we’re aggressive and take it to them on Saturday!

Regardless of who played vs. Louisvile, either we had hangover from the Clemson loss, or overconfident on defense with all the talk they were getting. Seemed to settle down in the second half, but unfortunately the hole was too deep to get out of. Hopefully the guys learned from their poor mental state, and will never go there again. Got to play our best regardless of the opposition. Hopefully we see that vs BC. I think the guys were pretty embarrassed after the UL loss.
