Here’s a thought or two. If you’ve got the money, pull the trigger, and make a respectable hire then a new coach is likely to get 3 seasons to prove themselves. 2017, 2018, 2019. This assumes Yow goes full term. If she retires end of June 2019, I have a hard time imaging new AD won’t let coach have a 3rd season. We have a history of cutting coaches not getting it done in 3, but if they are having an 8+ win season I have a hard time seeing a new AD cutting bait with what would be a successful coach based on our history. So the decision is basically do it now and give a new coach a chance or you get awkward with just 2 years to sell a new coach if you wait a year. If you believe we’ve got a good base of talent in house. Then if you make a good hire now, perhaps you get a recruiting bump. May lose some with regime change, but if the perception is you’ve gotten better coach then I’m sticking around hoping for better days. Obviously we’ve lost several games we could have won this year which may be an indicator that we aren’t far away. That becomes the key question – is it just bad luck, players not knowing how to win, or coaches missing the key ingredient that separates us from an 8+ win season, top 25, and top tier ACC presence.

But seriously, again, if he can beat UNC and somehow beat a decent team in the bowl game, but if he loses to UNC, I just don’t see how any rational person can say “let’s keep this guy.”
I will tell you right now, if we lose and keep Dave, it will be pretty much a break even due to loss of ticket sales and C-F revenue during the year.
I have said it before and I will say it again I have never seen C-F so dead as it has been the last 2 games with a lot still at stake. Close calls or not, the fans are speaking pretty loudly and the students are screaming at the top of their lungs.

11/20/2016 at 8:39 PM #110640choppack1ParticipantYes. That would T classic nc state..to assume Strong’s success at Louisville in a hemorrhaging conference would transfer to nc state. Heck, when he had advantages at tejas he couldn’t equal his older predecessor. Sound familiar?
11/20/2016 at 8:55 PM #110656MrPlywoodParticipantYup. Do not want.
11/20/2016 at 10:55 PM #110737mak4dpakParticipantSo much for a good outing by the basketball team. Blasted by Creighton, not much defense vs the 3s, and Anya has to be the laziest basketball player there ever was. All that wing span, and height, and plays pathetically. But then we were missing some key elements to our offense.
11/22/2016 at 5:07 PM #110853mak4dpakParticipantBack on track vs. St Joes. Now to get back home, and get Rowan, and Kapita back on the court. Basketball should turn out much better than the enduring football season.
