Had an opportunity to speak to him at the Reynolds Dedication. The story here really under rates his attitude. He is still, seemingly, the same Chris that we have known and loved for years.
Prayers for him and family. Also support his efforts to find a cure for ALS
IF you have a business or are a employee of a company that has matching grants for charitable contributions, I urge you to see if Chis’ Organization qualifies or can be added to their matching list.

Please pray for Chris.

And agreed with Frizz, ALS and other similar degenerative neuropathies are some of the cruelest things going.Hang in there Chris. And as you said so eloquently, value every day and show the ones you love that you love them. Telling them doesn’t hurt either, but your point is well taken.

He was from down here in New Bern, NC. Played first chair trumpet as a freshman in high school, joined the US Army and was accepted into the Field Band during the Vietnam Era (after graduating from ECU’s school of music), earned his Masters Degree from Miami of Ohio, and shared the stage with Louis Armstrong and Dizzy Gillespie…not bad for a poor white boy from Craven County. My Uncle Jesse Nelson is my musical hero.
I have a photo of him with Dizzy backstage in Chicago during the 80’s if anyone is interested.
Chris, keep up the fight.

Anybody got a private plane and want to make a Wolfpack “Emotional” donation by keeping Francis’ streak alive?
I read this and as a father who knew causally knew Freddie at NCSU and also have got to know Chris through the WPC, I teared up.
Not “Make A Wish” material….but still, if I had the resources, my Lear would be fueled and ready and I would hope that my pilots enjoyed the game as well…
