The media doesn’t feel they have a right to expect big time hires and their athletic department reaks of incompetence. Btw – does anyone think that if Schiano finished on a clear upswing at Rutgers these protests would be taking place? Please, this was selective morality being leveraged to eliminate an unpopular candidate.

I don’t think an established coach will want to go there at this point. What kind of support can you expect from the AD. I mean he won at Rutgers. If you can win there you are a solid coach. I always thought he was a DB but still a good solid coach.

Many Vol fans view it as Haslam/Currie using Gruden as a smokescreen to back door Schiano. No pun intended. I guess schiano is the coach who saw Sandusky abusing a kid.

It may be time for Fisher to leave FSU. My sense is that he’s jumped the shark at FSU, and that it’s time to reset the clock. Get paid $$$ by TAMU and never work again. Makes sense to me.
Now if I’m TAMU, I’m not sure Fisher is a guy I’d break the bank over………… Of course, how many chances to they have to hire a coach who has won a national title?
UCLA made a great hire. They’re willing to color outside the lines, and Chip Kelly is about the best West Coast guy out there if you’re willing to do that. The irony is thick in the way that Oregon and UCLA have gone over the past couple of coaching changes.
Schiano to UT would have been about a bad of a fit as Butch Jones or Brett Beilema. It’s important to find a coach that fits a profile, and those two never did and Schiano wouldn’t in the SEC either. Schiano should be looking for a Big 10 job, or trying for UConn or Syracuse.
Rye – Chip Kelly falls in the category of no-brainer.
UT, Florida, A&M would have all been very happy with him.
It will be interesting to see where Sumerlin goes. He didn’t stink up the joint entirely at A&M – he was just a game or two away at the time when it counted most.
