This week Mark Gottfried met with the media and discussed several items about the upcoming year. Here are some of the items that I found to be most in

07/11/2014 at 10:08 AM #53565D WolfParticipantI had the opportunity to see the team play a couple of weeks ago in a player led practice. BeeJay is already very noticeably leaner and more mobile. He could be on his way to becoming a real beast. Not mentioned above, though, was Kyle Washington. Although Kyle really didn’t need to lose weight he looks like he has taken full advantage of Coach Alejo’s program. He looked like he’s packed on muscle and looked really strong on the court. I’m excited to see both of these guys continue to develop. Both seem coachable with a high ceiling on their potential.

07/11/2014 at 12:57 PM #53576TexpackParticipantMy only fear with Anya is that he might play his way into the lottery by next Spring.
I bet what he is really doing is trying to get in shape for the Krispy Kreme Challenge.

Some guys getting drafted early might help us more than hurt us in the long run. I can’t put my finger on why, but I feel like last years bust of a draft was a real negative for recruiting.
Edit: Also Purvis leaving.

How’s 2015 class coming along? Looks pretty bleak. Bleak recruiting isn’t good when your core paradigm is to get the best players and win with sheer talent.

A little less than 1/3rd of the top 100 (and 5 of the top 30) has committed anywhere. Twelve of those commitments are to Ohio State, Syracuse, Penn St, and Florida. The combination of Duke, UNC, Wake Forest, and State have one commitment (total, for all four) in 2015.
I guess it depends on your opinion of where we stand with the ~70 uncommited recruits.
07/11/2014 at 3:40 PM #53583redisgoodParticipantFor 2015 we’ve pulled ahead of Michigan State for combo guard Eric Davis, and are 2nd behind Arizona for center Chance Comanche. Arizona may sign another center soon, which would put us in good position for him. Of course we already landed Terry Henderson from WVU. There are a few others we’re after, and I would be very surprised if we did not get one of them. Open recruiting started back up yesterday, so hopefully things will begin to heat up.
The big prize however will be in 2016 if we can land Dennis Smith. So far we are in very good shape. That one would be a grand slam.

07/14/2014 at 8:48 PM #53633choppack1ParticipantHow in God’s name did Trevor Lacy get up to 230? He’s a guard right?
Good news on Anya. Also, don’t forget we added another high value transfer in Henderson.

07/17/2014 at 12:32 PM #53665PackFamilyParticipantI am impressed with how good Anya looks.
