What say you, boys? Can he suck it, or what?
I’ll be interested to see how much he makes per year.
03/25/2017 at 12:36 PM #121801WulfpackParticipantDon’t understand the negativity.
03/25/2017 at 12:41 PM #121802StateRed44ParticipantWell, there better be final 4s and Nattys or he won’t last 6 years. Wonder if he’ll head to next.
03/25/2017 at 12:54 PM #121803TheAliasTrollParticipantYeah, Indiana is a harder job than NC State, especially when you consider he’d have more leash here being an alum.
Reasons we missed on him:
#1) Money (probably.. will have to see)
#2) His brother told him not to take our job03/25/2017 at 1:25 PM #121804MrPlywoodParticipantTough job.
03/25/2017 at 1:34 PM #121805cardiacpackattack22Participant“IU is one of the greatest basketball programs and academic institutions in the country and I cannot wait to get started. With peerless fan support, outstanding facilities and tradition, a beautiful campus, and located in one of the most fertile recruiting areas in the country, IU is a dream destination for me and my family…”
I don’t think state ever had a shot at Archie
03/25/2017 at 1:43 PM #121806WulfpackParticipantDoubt it.

Don’t doubt it on the money either, I kept telling you guys the financial reality was that we couldn’t pay that kind of money because we didn’t have it.
For us its a passion, for him its a business, if I had competitive offers I’d take the best one which would probably also be the one that paid the most.03/25/2017 at 2:00 PM #121809WulfpackParticipantSobering reality of our place in the pecking order.
03/25/2017 at 2:05 PM #121810bill.onthebeachParticipantArchie ought to invite Coach Knight to a couple of games and befriend him, if possible….
After watching Butler last night against the HOLES… I’m not sure, he could have done what we need in Rawlee…
I’m liking the idea that K2T2 has NO HISTORY on Tobacco Road, more and more, as time goes by….
#NCSU-North Carolina's #1 FOOTBALL school!03/25/2017 at 2:25 PM #121812TheAliasTrollParticipantBill, you got me all kinds of confused over here, brother. What does Butler game have to do with Archie “Sell out” Miller?
03/25/2017 at 2:29 PM #121813TheAliasTrollParticipantI’m seeing he’s getting $4M/yr for 7 yrs with his new contract. I’m totally guessing we offered $3M/yr 6 year deal.
03/25/2017 at 2:32 PM #121814TheAliasTrollParticipantI’m seeing a problem developing here… if Keatts is all that and a bag of Sun Chips, like some of yall are prognosticating, he probably won’t be here long.

Huh? Did anyone in their right mind think we were equivalent to or higher than Indiana in the pecking order? IU is a top 10 all time MBB program. Some would say top 5.

I did with respect to Archie Miller. Did you forget he played here? I don’t see anything far fetched about it. I bet if we were able to offer as much as Indiana (and his bro wasn’t being a dick) he’d be our new coach.
03/25/2017 at 2:52 PM #121818cardiacpackattack22Participantthe other thing is he has created the right ties and relationships from coaching in the Midwest that “should” help him land recruits plus having the brand of IU vs having to start over/ create those relationships if he came to State without having that brand that IU is… add in the 4 mil a year contract if that is true (haven’t found a report verifying that yet) State had no freaking shot at Miller which now makes the Keatts hire and how quickly it was done make more sense. Yow had to know that Archie wasn’t coming
03/25/2017 at 2:54 PM #121820McCallumParticipantWho cares?
McCallum
03/25/2017 at 3:01 PM #121822WulfpackParticipantI knew when IU came open the Miller sweepstakes was over for State. Just got that feeling. Of course, we probably didn’t have a shot without IU’s opening. Which is a shame. And then there were no other candidates outside of Wade and Keatts. Which tells you something, and it isn’t good. Yes, IU is a better job than ours, clearly. But it isn’t what it once was. And not are we.
03/25/2017 at 3:08 PM #121823AdventurooParticipantOK, Miller was “available” for a week PRIOR to the announcement. Dan Dakich posted “Done Deal” earlier for Alford to go home to Indiana. THEN Alford issude the “I don’t give a (FIB) about Indiana speech”. He agent confirmed it.
Old Danny BOY probably DID have it right. Something happened to remove Wonder Boy Stevie from “the list”.
We will never know. NOR SHOULD WE. BUT, at least I don’t owe a Fifth of Crown Royal because GreGGory is NOT going to IU. Really thought that DD was credible in his info. Sounds like there was SERIOUS talk and something blew up. Will be interesting to see how much of a raise that Stevie gets and what Archie will be paid.
I assume that this will play OK with all the “potential jumpers”, who fortunately have seemed to come back from said ledge and are in therapy right now.
Archie was hold out for the HOT Date who could do things that would make a 5X porn star envious. SO, he is NOW going to IU.
I certainly HOPE that ORW can now retire (and make the Bruce to Caitlin journey) and THAT will encourage the NCGA to repeal HB2. When he retires, then Sean can step right in since he is already primed and ready for the job. The UNC BOT have probably already met and have a salary that will equal Mikey’s….
SEVEN (7 count ’em) years is a stretch. We croaked at a 6 YEAR contract. Lifttime will be just around the corner.
Salary will be leaked…AD Yow looking better and better every day….

There is a lot that goes into quantifying the quality of a particular MBB HC opportunity: salary, other income opportunities (shoe deals, media deals), contract details (number of years, buyout, etc.), budget for assistants, budget for recruiting, facilities, recruiting appeal, fans, tradition, conference/competition, current roster, place to live, etc.
All of that collectively establishes a pecking order. State is not able to compete with IU on many of the items I listed. Case closed.
03/25/2017 at 3:24 PM #121826MrPlywoodParticipantSpeculation re: Alford is that he did not want to be the savior at Indiana. That can (and probably does) apply to Archie and State. Combine that with the Archie’s supposed distaste for Sendek’s treatment and the Pack was a hard, if not impossible, sell. Objectively Arch was a perfect fit – a young coach with results, from a coaching family and an alum to boot. He would “get” State. But his negative perceptions (and salary demands?) outweighed State’s positives.
03/25/2017 at 3:32 PM #121827wolfmanmatParticipantIU is just a better job than ours. No doubt about that. Play against Big 10. Less competition. On Alford, Ucla is a better job than iu. Why leave LA?
03/25/2017 at 3:40 PM #121828JeremyHParticipantI wonder if our interest in Arch pushed Crean out the door and forced IU’s hand on the buyout they didn’t want to eat.

Don’t understand the negativity ….
03/25/2017 at 3:55 PM #121831tractor57ParticipantObviously Archie had choices – he didn’t choose the Pack for whatever reason (compensation, next to the blues or whatever). My take is I never want an employee that does not want to be with me. Beyond that maybe his career path as he sees it does not include Raleigh. Regardless I can respect that he has not trashed NCSU and by the same token I will not trash Archie.
