We attend a large PCA church and the dress runs from jeans to three-piece suits-I like what I heard a pastor say years ago-something along the lines that at a worship service, the Lord God should be the only spectator…the congregation is to be the participants.
03/07/2017 at 11:32 AM #119761freshmanin83ParticipantThanks guys for what turned out to be an encouraging thread. One of the things Jesus said about the church kind of haunts me and may be one of the biggest spots on the body of Christ that we will have to answer for is that the world is supposed to know that we are Christ’s disciples because of the love we have for each other. Love you guys for a great thread. (Just to be clear not a statement for Omnism because of John 14:6)

No comment from this quarter.
McC, wear whatever you like. It’s a freedom you deserve. I just quit doing it years ago because of something that happened to me when I invited a friend of mine from work to go to church with me. He said “I don’t have a suit”. I told him “that’s OK, lots of people at my church don’t wear suits”. Which was true, and the Sunday before that was the last time I wore one. That’s not a bonk over the head, just a different perspective on why I don’t wear one anymore. And it was hard for a couple of weeks. The church I’m a member of now no one wears suits. Most are always dressed high casual for lack of a better term. And yep, some times that even includes Izod shorts in the summer time.

03/07/2017 at 8:02 PM #119878McCallumParticipantGood grief at all the “come as you are” non sense.
If you don’t have a suit, come on. If you have the means, put the damn thing on but save me please from all this contemporary bulls.hit.

03/07/2017 at 11:23 PM #119895pakfanistanParticipantAnybody want to prognosticate on whether Trump will make it through his entire first term, possibly even his first year?
03/07/2017 at 11:38 PM #119896StateRed44ParticipantI haven’t worn a suit ever except to interviews, weddings, and funerals. Not to church. It’s not like you can have just one. You’d need at least 6 if you are a regular IMO. I don’t wear short, but whatever. It’s what’s inside that counts.
I’d guess Trump makes it 8 years. Trump is hopefully going to dismantle the deep state. I’m praying regularly for him. There’s a civil war going on right now inside the CIA and NSA. Just got to hope the white hats win.

So there’s a dress code for church? Maybe, but it’s probably not what you think it is. Mark 12:38.

03/08/2017 at 6:14 AM #119903McCallumParticipantThe “deep state”?
Many things, a few things.
The people that pushed the US into Vietnam after the false Gulf of Tonkin incident and applauded WMD’s. It is elite, global, not favorable to peaceful living, war profiteers, etc.
They would have the poor classes of North Carolina dying in Iraq, South Ossetia, or Estonia while their children live large at Georgetown, Princeton, Harvard, Brown etc. They are scum and deserve scorn.
Pat Buchanan has long known and opposes them:

Mentioned here briefly. I would say the nonelected powers or shadow government. Spies, Pentagon, people like Soros, etc…

03/08/2017 at 1:50 PM #119941StateRed44ParticipantSailing to Byzantium
That is no country for old men. The young
In one another’s arms, birds in the trees
– Those dying generations – at their song,
The salmon?falls, the mackerel?crowded seas,
Fish, flesh, or fowl, commend all summer long
Whatever is begotten, born, and dies.
Caught in that sensual music all neglect
Monuments of unageing intellect. An aged man is but a paltry thing,
A tattered coat upon a stick, unless
Soul clap its hands and sing, and louder sing
For every tatter in its mortal dress,
Nor is there singing school but studying
Monuments of its own magnificence;
And therefore I have sailed the seas and come
To the holy city of Byzantium.O sages standing in God’s holy fire
As in the gold mosaic of a wall,
Come from the holy fire, perne in a gyre,
And be the singing?masters of my soul.
Consume my heart away; sick with desire
And fastened to a dying animal
It knows not what it is; and gather me
Into the artifice of eternity.Once out of nature I shall never take
My bodily form from any natural thing,
But such a form as Grecian goldsmiths make
Of hammered gold and gold enamelling
To keep a drowsy Emperor awake;
Or set upon a golden bough to sing
To lords and ladies of Byzantium
Of what is past, or passing, or to come.03/25/2017 at 9:24 AM #121787TheCOWDOGModeratorOCD is real. Let’s keep it that way…Right here.
All things Socio/Politico in its own little box.03/27/2017 at 2:38 AM #122038pakfanistanParticipant03/27/2017 at 8:35 AM #122039McCallumParticipantThe left was not outraged by Soviet influence in the FDR and Truman administrations yet now believe the world is ending because Hillary lost the election due to Russian influence? Might as well forget about that non sense about commies under the bed, all fiction. Red Scare my a$$.
The strong stench of hypocrisy is evident, Chicoms from the 90s are all forgotten because “your man” did not win. The US has meddled in an endless number of elections, I thought the left was about equity.
