With NC State’s fall camp going on, there are some stories and tidbits that come out. My favorite on this year so far is the awarding of scholarships
[See the full post at: A Couple of Football Notes]08/14/2015 at 8:12 AM #87952BJD95KeymasterI still maintain I see some Andrew Luck in Jacoby’s game (at his best). He just needs more consistency and reps. An NFL team who drafts him in the 3rd round and develops him for two seasons will have a very nice surprise on their hands, methinks…
08/14/2015 at 9:13 AM #87958WolfInVolCountryParticipantDayum if those running back boys don’t have a “Beast Mode” look to them. I bet they like Skittles!
08/14/2015 at 10:31 AM #87961redisgoodParticipantYep, I’m definitely excited about the running backs. Speed guys, power guys, and lots of them. They should be able to both keep defenses guessing and wear them down. Obviously that will help Brissett do his thing. And our tight ends are none too shabby either. If the defense plays reasonably well, this could be a special season.
08/14/2015 at 10:58 AM #87962GowolvesParticipantI am really excited about our secondary. Seems like we have a group that has a lot of experince and size. I just belive the defense is going to surprise some people. Maybe not some Pack fans. The defense is young in spots but have seen a lot of reps early on.
08/14/2015 at 11:09 AM #87963redisgoodParticipantDamn! I’m so pumped I want to go over there and start tailgating this afternoon. But I guess that would break the 5 hour policy by about 500 hours.
08/17/2015 at 3:54 PM #87997WolfanaticParticipant08/18/2015 at 12:59 AM #88001WufpackerParticipantFirst I’d heard of this. Seems….odd?
N.C. State gives Russell Wilson’s No. 16 to QB as part of ‘Legends’ program
But former quarterback Russell Wilson, who has helped the Seahawks to a pair of Super Bowls, will be the first player commemorated by the school in the form of a patch worn on a current player’s jersey. That player will be freshman quarterback Jakobi Meyers, who will don Wilson’s former No. 16 this season.
08/18/2015 at 2:28 PM #88003PackerInRussiaParticipant^ I kind of like the idea of it – reminds you that you’re playing for something bigger; just another form of motivation. But, are they just doing one a year? Russ does seem an odd first choice unless it all has to work out – same number as someone already on a “legends” list who is playing the same position as you – and this just happened to work out like that. Or maybe they want to make sure he stays firmly in the Wolfpack camp/remind people that he’s from the Wolfpack camp.
08/19/2015 at 5:53 PM #88008TheCOWDOGModeratorTwo words so far: Nyheim Hines.
Can I say a few more? …Good.
That little sh#t is going to light CF up.
08/19/2015 at 7:41 PM #88009Pack78Participant^Ryan Switzer will be wearing Nyheim Hines PJ’s…
08/20/2015 at 9:00 PM #88023GowolvesParticipantIt’s awful quite around here. Do we need more cowbell? Are we all just being a bit shy? Do we want to talk a little sh*t out our ass?
Let’s be reasonable…hmmm I say we have two backs rush for a thousand. Does that sound crazy? I just don’t know. I bet if you think hard enough you could convince yourself that it’s not out of this realm. I know we have a very good QB but it’s possible.
Before anyone says we have too many in the backfield and the carries will be spilt. I gotcha but I would argue that they can find two great ball carriers that have better skills as compliments than by themselves. Not saying the the back behind Thornton won’t become the man latter n his college career. Assumptions taken. Find that back that compliments Thornton. That’s the key. Not to mention health. See what I did there?
08/20/2015 at 9:25 PM #88024WufpackerParticipantI doubt we’ll even have one guy break the 1000 yd mark, but we don’t need them to. The guys in the stable are more than capable of getting the team job done, no doubt.
But the guys who will determine how well that job gets done won’t be the ones getting the touches. Still lotsa ???’s on the OL, but I’m hopeful that Richardson’s development (as described to me…I haven’t seen any first hand stuff) indicates a possible glimmer of hope that things will gel in the direction we would like.
Jacoby is still gonna Jacoby either way, but if opposing D’s have to play honest due to an honest to goodness ground game, then he’ll Jacoby even better than last year.
Guarded optimism at its finest…no talking shit. At least not yet. 😉
08/20/2015 at 9:27 PM #88025TheCOWDOGModeratorStealth, Gowolves…stealth.
What if I said this team is really, really good?
08/20/2015 at 9:30 PM #88026WufpackerParticipantWhat if I said this team is really, really good?
Dunno ’bout Gowolves, but I know I’d be infinitely happy to hear that exit your pie hole. 😀
08/20/2015 at 9:46 PM #88027GowolvesParticipantSecond that.
08/20/2015 at 9:57 PM #88028Since74Participant“infinitely happy to hear that exit your pie hole.”
Awesome.
I love reading you guys. If for nothing other than sheer eloquence.
Hope you don’t mind if I incorporate that phrase into several of my everyday dialogues.
I’ll be sure to give credit if anyone appreciates it or feels that I’ve gone overboard using that as a response to everything they say.Oh and btw, saw a great vid of a day in the life of Nyheim Hines on YouTube. Sorry I stink with the links.
Comes across intelligent and likeable. Think he’s gonna be a great fit.08/20/2015 at 9:58 PM #88029GowolvesParticipantI think we are seeing something bigger. What I mean by that is Doreen. I think he is going to be a special coach. I hope we have the Benjamin’s to keep him. They can run the ball and I believe their run defense can be good to very good. That’s a recipe for success. Jacoby needs to let the game come to him. He knows what that feels like. That’s important. He had that trait the last 5/6 games of the season.

Pie hole is definitely an underutilized circumlocution IMHO.08/27/2015 at 12:58 PM #88097GowolvesParticipantWell, there goes that small chance right out the window,
Thornton suspended first two games for violation of team rules. Personally I would have given him the boot. Disappointed that DD did not do that. This kid has had too many chances. Don’t care how small it could have been. This is the third time if I am not mistaken. Doesn’t get it and never will. I think I will be in the minority with that opinion.
08/27/2015 at 1:00 PM #88098WufpackerParticipantAm hearing that Thornton has been suspended for first two games. No details yet, but if true, this piece in G’boro N&R yesterday is somewhat ironic.
08/27/2015 at 1:46 PM #88099redisgoodParticipantShad better hope he doesn’t get Wally Pipped by Reggie Gallaspy.
08/27/2015 at 1:59 PM #88102TheCOWDOGModeratorMotorcycle ticket issues.
08/27/2015 at 2:08 PM #88103redisgoodParticipantI’m hearing a 2nd failed drug test. Bad intel?
Never mind. I’ll answer my own question. If it was a 2nd failed drug test, surely he’d be gone.
And obviously your sources are much more solid.
08/27/2015 at 2:20 PM #88104RadmanParticipantThree strikes and …
