The screwing is not over! Until we finally get the nads as an institution to say it’s over! I’ve been waiting a long time, but until you prove it to me, I’m not biting!

03/10/2012 at 6:51 PM #64646coach13ParticipantWatched Curry’s last shot, BIG pushoff with the left arm, same crap Miller w/ FSU fouled outr on, and the ref was looking directly at it from 10 feet. Same shot as us, swallow the whistle and let Duke shoot.
03/10/2012 at 6:53 PM #64647TheAliasTrollParticipantI don’t think “ticky tack” is an accurate description of running over your opponent so hard that he slides 15 feet across the floor.
03/10/2012 at 7:01 PM #64648tuckerdorm1983ParticipantAs a life long wolfpack fan and devoted fan we simply blew it. The charge/no-charge by Marshal was close and the refs let it go. I thought it was close. There as no foul at the end on Howell. We turned the ball over when Johnson handed it to Brown. Small time thinking on our part. What I saw today was a NC State team come of age. Whether Leslie comes back we are going to be a tough team. We will make the NCAAT now and make a little noise. I think Calvin will return just to beat UNC.
03/10/2012 at 7:06 PM #64649BJD95KeymasterThe worst call, by far, was not calling the Hole for being on the endline with 5 seconds left. Cost us a legitimate shot at the win. Despite the screwjobs prior.

03/10/2012 at 7:11 PM #64652MARinRVAParticipantIt was SOMETHING. It wasn’t a no-call. I’d rather he called a block and sent Marshall to the line for a three-point play than swallow his whistle. “Let the Blues play when the game is on the line” is not a legit reffing philosophy.
That said, this talk about going to the SEC is nuts. I have no interest whatsoever in watching State play Miss. St. in basketball or watching our football team be sacrificed to Bama and LSU every year. This is still our league, and we need to fight for it.
Gott can coach. Gott can recruit. Bennett at UVa can coach. Leonard Hamilton can get his every once in a while. K is not a spring chick. We’re on the edge of a new equilibrium in the league. The refs won’t be able to defer to the Blues.
Until we get there, we’ll have to be better than perfect when we play the Blues. Like Bush v. Gore it’s not good enough to win; you gotta keep it outa the refs’ hands. (I know, I know, I shouldn’t mix politics and sports; you Republicans bear with me!) We weren’t perfect today. That last minute turnover was inexplicable.
More importantly, I wouldn’t mind a PUBLIC fight to reform the league office. I wish Gott and the AD would go public. Fines be damned. You excellent moderators of this fine forum can create a Paypal account, and we’ll cover the fines!
03/10/2012 at 7:15 PM #64653brickyard 83MemberClose oh so close… I guess you could say we turned it over on the last three (3) possessions of the game… Guards out front, Wood pass towards Painter, and mini “hail Mary” with a sec to go… This was ours to win with UNC down a big man…
Close oh so close… effort was there… Lo just needed to quickly take the ball and force it all the way down to the basket vs. the pass to Wood… If only Wood could have head faked got the guy in the air and jumped into him for a three shot foul or at least side step and put something in the air…
Let’s get into the dance and target the Sweet 16…
Go Pack
PS… I am as mad as the rest of you – but we controlled a lot of it in the last minute…
03/10/2012 at 7:26 PM #64654T-PackMemberBefore I vent, I gotta say …. Compared to the past few years, many of us at the start of the season would have considered the NIT a big step up. Now (providing the ACC ‘powers that be’ don’t convince the committee to further ‘put us in our place’), going to the dance is a reality, and who knows what happens when we get in. Much thanks to the team and coaches for your hard work and for providing us with a entertaining, exciting season. You’ve served notice to the nation that the Pack is Back!
That said, what we have going on with the refs is a reprehensible pattern of behavior, starting with Clougherty’s statement that UNC just doesn’t foul much, and that his refs study tendencies (so much for calling it as you see it), Corch and Googs getting tossed, the KH demonstration Thursday (HIGHLY unprofessional for men in the position of being judges); and now, not even counting the way this game was called, Dorsey’s comment to Gott. At the VERY least, Clougherty’s got to go … his refs are out of control, and it starts at the top.
03/10/2012 at 7:32 PM #64655ncsu_kappaParticipantThe commissioner from the Big East (SEC would probably make us beg) should be on the horn with us and UVA or us and FSU right now.
Yow had to be livid before the game even started based on the KH mess. Add to it the calls start to finish. All of our bigs had 4 fouls an CJL picks up 3 in the second half in about 10 mins. AJ gets run over, RH hacked and no calls except for the now infamous “SYFAU!”
Thankfully FSU finally pulled a few out this year but between them and BC I think hose two programs have gotten jobbed as often as we have. FSU gives South Florida an instate rival and the Big East entry into Tobacco Rd with us. We just took Pitt and Cuse. They should come for NC state and whoever wants to come with us. (FSU or UVA)
The ACC was fun 35 years ago. Now they can keep it. It’s not respected in anything. Peace!
03/10/2012 at 7:34 PM #64656AnonymousInactiveIt’s a simple case of official inverse point shaving. These “referees” are nothing but stooges for the blues.
We are a threat to them, so we have to be put in our place. You cannot graph the methodology of their calls without seeing that they will take out our scoring threats with phantom fouls while scattering the fouls on the blues amongst one scorer and a multitude of role players.By limiting the time and effectiveness of our key players, they seek to deny us the ability to score, thus the officials are shaving points from us. Sounds like a conspiracy theorist’s dream, but it’s happening to us and other ACC teams that don’t wear blue.
Watch what happens to FSU tomorrow.
03/10/2012 at 7:36 PM #64657Lunatic FringeParticipantDigger’s argument has so many flaws it is hard to pick the part that is most absurd. 1) Fran is ABSOLUTELY right about the rule 2) Digger’s idea of letting them “play” at the end is just ridiculous 3) The fact that the EXACT same play reversed resulted in foul call on offensive player (the best player on floor today) that was critical in his fouling out.
BTW – kudos to team in responding to loss of Leslie. The team has really grown up this year to work through these BS turn of events and I think will pay off in the future.
Additionally, I hope Amile got see that moment the coach had with Calvin. I believe the players truly love Gott and vice versa.
03/10/2012 at 7:40 PM #64658Lunatic FringeParticipantBJD, I actually thought they were going to correct it (end line call) since they were looking at it so long, but apparently they were too busy shouting obscenities at our coach instead of doing their job.
03/10/2012 at 7:44 PM #64659wolfpackdawgParticipantCalvin is gone. No way he stays with how well he has played of late.
03/10/2012 at 8:02 PM #64660brickyard 83MemberInteresting stat… Alex Johnson outscored Wood and CJ Williams combined… I really like the guys but….
03/10/2012 at 8:19 PM #64661highstickParticipantGott denies that the ref said to “STFU”..Hmmm!

03/10/2012 at 8:22 PM #64662tuckerdorm1983Participantsweet sixteen or bust. We can do it. We may have to beat a top flight team, but hey we can do it. When Brown split the double team and slammed it home, that was his step up moment. I know he mishandled the ball, but hey he and alex johnson had a miscommunication. That will stay in Brown’s head and Brown will take the ball at that point in every other game he ever plays again. Make no mistake about it. Give him the ball. Howell will learn not to foul so much. He will. At the end he was begging for the ball. Begging. Don’t think we will make this same mistake twice. We may not make the play again to win a game, but not like that. CJL will return for his junior year to becomee ACC player of the year and 1st team along with his cohort Lo and maybe one of the others coming in next year will also be on the first team. Next year, even if CJL goes, we will be awesome. The Wolfpack will just keep coming and keeping coming because coach Gott will just keep coming and his players will believe in him and he believes in them. Could not have been prouder of my wolfpack team than today. Sucess builds on sucess. Hurray for Debbie Yow. Hurray for Coach Gott. Hurray for the wolfpack nation. NATIONAL TITLE is in our sights. That is right. National title. I am not saying this year and I am not saying next year, but soon.
03/10/2012 at 8:23 PM #6466374wolfParticipantMust admit, until today I thought maybe we were overreacting a bit to the calls. Now, after seeing today’s calls, there’s no doubt in my mind that something’s rotten in Denmark.
I think you have to approach our games with UNC and Duke with the philosophy that the score in 10-0 before the tipoff, just based on the refs’ bias that Duke/UNC athletes are such superior players. To make matters worse, the refereeing fraternity now has a burr under their saddles for State because of the Karl Hess “reprimand”. Witness the KH shoe statement by the refs…and no reprimand.
I don’t expect this to change in the NCAA tournament, assuming we get an invitation…refs are all buddies.
So what do you do about it?
DY can go to Greensboro every day and it won’t matter. She (and the rest of State Nation) will be blown off as the lunatic fringe. To effect change, the rest of the non-blue conference AD’s will have to step up.
Can/will this happen? Is it even possible? I have no idea. (Maybe somebody else can contribute their thoughts.)
Going to the SEC at this time is wishful thinking. Our football program isn’t SEC caliber. Our basketball and baseball programs don’t bring much to the SEC table at present either (wait til next year).
To me, our best bet is to stay in the ACC and start building a coalition with the non-blue AD’s…03/10/2012 at 8:24 PM #64664SaccoVParticipantWhere did you get that from, HighStick?
03/10/2012 at 8:29 PM #64665randyguptonParticipantOn the day in which the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, the Admiral of Japan said “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.” May today be our Pearl Harbor.
03/10/2012 at 8:44 PM #64666TLeoParticipantGott said he “didn’t hear it”, not that the ref didn’t say it. Yow asked him about it but he said he did not hear it and I think that is totally possible. If two (or was it three) independent media types reported that they heard it, I believe them. There is no reason for them to make that up.
03/10/2012 at 8:50 PM #64667tuckerdorm1983Participanttired of being the doormat in the triangle. Red headed step child at the famly reunion. Tired I say Tired. “I am mad and I ain’t gonna take it no more”. Always looked down upon. Those days are ending.
03/10/2012 at 8:52 PM #64668Wolf74MemberYou know, I wish there was some way NCSU could get into a decent conference. I just have no desire what so ever to watch us play those cheating, grade inflating, academic frauds from UNC-Chapel Hill. The conference is gone and it isn’t coming back. Some of the things I have heard about that The CHeats do to get and keep their basketball players in that school would make Calipari blush. Add in that “baby blue homer” Swofford going to try and convince the NCAA to lessen their punishment and also not kicking those KH loving refs out of the tournament sickens me to my stomach.
I will not watch another ACC game that NCSU is not playing in because the conference is a fraud. I have convinced my immediate family to also join in this boycott. I am working on my friends now.
03/10/2012 at 8:54 PM #64669logarithmParticipantIs Dorsey the one Rich Howell was on the way to choke-slam at the end of regulation when he didn’t whistle a foul?
