For the second straight week Marcus Stone has put up very soft numbers in a pre-season scrimmage. Every summer you hope the player who didn’t perform at a high level last year has developed into a completely changed player. Lets hope we run the ball a lot this season.
Mario Has Better Game
Mario had a better game last night against Tory Holt’s St. Louis Rams than in his first week of games. Richard Justice’s blog at the Houston Chronicle proclaimed: He lives! He started at right defensive end, but moved up and down the line. He consistently drew double-team blocking. Despite that, we finally got a glimpse […]
Best Statement Ever – Nebraska AD
As you remember, the University of Nebraska was recently forced to hire a new basketball coach when Barry Collier chose to return to his alma mater as Athletics Director. Steve Pederson, Nebraska AD, issued a statement that can be found at this link in its entirety at the beginning of the process that we think […]
Cullen Jones Is Hitting the Big Time
Cullen Jones is hitting the big time. The N&O reports “signed a seven-year endorsement deal with Nike worth potentially more than $2 million, which would make him the highest-paid sprint freestyler in the world.” In 5 years Jones could easily be the most famous athlete in NC State history.
Summer School: ACC Basketball
Basketball has taken center-stage a little this week as football is still two weeks away and the ACC released 06-07 Basketball schedules yesterday. (N&O Story, Durham Herald Sun Story) A few quick hits: * Did anyone note that Seton Hall was NOT on NC State’s schedule despite previous public statements that indicated that the Wolfpack […]
BBall Recruiting & The Battle of DC
Yesterday we learned that Jamelle McMillan is not going to play basketball at NC State. SFN shared some thoughts and analysis in this entry that we hope that you didn’t miss. Something that we tried to politely dance around was the ‘priority’ that the new NC State staff put on McMillan’s recruitment. We commented that […]
Koren’s Problems Aren’t Alone
Very sad. (Link) Minnesota Vikings receiver Koren Robinson was in jail Wednesday on suspicion of drunken driving, a newspaper reported. Sgt. Loren Jansen of the St. Peter Police Department told the St. Paul Pioneer Press that Robinson was arrested around 10:46 p.m. Tuesday for “driving while impaired.” At least Koren isn’t alone on the police […]
Clemson Promotional Video
We decided that today should be “quick & fun day” on the blog. EDBS brought our attention to this hilarious “promotional” video for Clemson University. You could take this thing and magnify the concept of “being the most awesomest in the ultraverse” by a factor of a million and run something like this for our […]
Kornheiser’s MNF Debut
Watched some of last night’s Vikings-Raiders game solely for Tony Kornheiser’s debut. I enjoyed it. Tony is a fan. He thinks like a fan. He speaks like a fan. He is going to do just fine in his new role on MNF. This link will take you to a summary of “(Almost) Everyone Loves Tony”
Talking ACC Mascots
A friendly diversion from the norm. Don’t really agree with a lot of the comments. It’s hard to say that a mascot that has won multiple “National Mascots of the Year” over the last 20 years – including last year – “sucks”. But, it is one person’s perspective.
