Great Read on O’Brien and His Coaching Philosophy
Update 1: Instead of making a new entry, I’ll add this bit here: Tom O’Brien said today that starting safety Clem Johnson will indeed be ready to play tomorrow in the Pizza Bowl. This is a positive for the Pack as it adds depth to a defensive secondary that’s sure to be tested all day […]
Quick reference Pack players in the NFL
While the holidays are in full effect, we thought we’d point you to this excellent reference page that lists NC State alums’ in the NFL: Pro Football Reference: NC State I especially found references to the old-school players whose names are on Carter-Finley Stadium’s Ring of Honor fun to look at. For example: Dick Christy […]
Butch Davis No-Shows Shrine Bowl – Practicing for Sun Bowl halftime or taking a math class?
One of the traditions of the annual Shrine Bowl in Charlotte are speeches from the states’ major college coaches. Yesterday, Tom O’Brien, Steve Spurrier, Dabo Sweeny, and David Cutcliffe were on-hand to give their remarks — but due to the weather, UNC’s Butch Davis missed his turn at the mike. Thanks to an insider tip, […]
Vegas Oddmakers Are Noticing Russell Wilson
One of the dirty little secrets of college athletics is that people actually bet on games. That’s why points spreads exist. A proper point-spread incents equal betting on both sides of the point-spread and creating a 50/50 proposition (if the oddsmakers get things right). Two For Pack Consult NFL Draft Advisory Board N.C. State juniors Willie Young and Jamelle Eugene are submitting their names to the NFL draft advisory board for feedback on where they might be selected in the draft in April if they choose to leave school early, coach Tom O’Brien said Tuesday. Additionally, linebacker Nate Iriving […]
Lip Service Or Getting Tough? NCAA Watching Hoops Recruiting More Closely
In the multi-billion dollar business that is college basketball, high stakes games are played between college programs looking for success, players looking to play their way into the NBA gold mine, and hangers-on looking to latch onto the next big thing so that they too can line their pockets.  Thing is, few fans are truly […]
Is UNC About To Fire Up Its Football Waiver Wire? (updated 12/16)
[Note: if you haven’t read the 2nd update, please take the time to do so.] The News and Observer has finally noticed that UNC football’s scholarship count and recruiting numbers don’t add up: The Tar Heels will lose 12 scholarship seniors after they complete the 2008 season vs. West Virginia at the Meineke Bowl on […]
ECU Will Not Be A Cupcake Game
Last year, one of the first real signs of the bad season to come for the Wolfpack hoops squad came when State visited Greenville for a rare road game against the East Carolina Pirates. After that game, we said that State had Rock Bottom.
