Tonight kicks off the beginning of the 2016 football season. The Pack hosts William and Mary at Carter-Finley Stadium tonight at 7:30 PM. The Tribe will not be a pushover as they are ranked in the top 10 of the preseason FCS poll. A few questions that hopefully will be answered starting tonight:
1. Who will the quarterback be? Coach Doeren has said he knows who the starter will be but both will play. Both Jalan McClendon and Ryan Finley will look to nail down the starting job.
2. How well will the offensive line jel? In the preseason, we have heard good things about the line. Tonight is the first time to see them together in a meaningful game.
3. How will the new offensive coordinator get everyone involved? Coach Drinkwitz was very productive at Boise State and hopefully we will see more of the same in Raleigh.
4. How will the defense replace the departed starters? I have heard good things from fall practice in replacing Mike Rose on the line along with Hakim Jones and Justin Burris in the secondary.
5. Will the home opener be in the middle of severe weather? This has happened several times recently. This year is no different. Gone is the 12:30 ACC Network game in 95 degree heat. This time Tropical Storm Hermine is making us think of Hurricane Dennis in 1999 against South Carolina. Look at 2:30 mark of this clip:
Everyone is excited for the season to finally be here. Good luck and GO PACK!
