Today Mark Gottfried added another highly rated player to the 2016-17 roster by getting Markell Johnson to sign with the Wolfpack. Johnson, who recently reclassified from a 2017 recruit to a 2016 recruit, is a 4 star point guard out of Ohio. He chose the Wolfpack over Ohio State and Texas A&M.
Johnson, a 6-foot-1 guard from East Tech High School (Ohio), was ranked No. 48 in the ESPN 100 for the class of 2017. However, he announced in May that he was exploring a reclassification into 2016, and sources told ESPN that he will indeed enroll at NC State in the fall.
…
Johnson had a long list of schools in pursuit for both 2016 and 2017, and recently took a visit to Texas A&M.
Coach Mark Gottfried and the Wolfpack have done a tremendous job this spring of bolstering their roster for next season.
NC State had a heck of a close to 2016. Reeled in 5-star Omer Yurtseven, Darius Hicks & now 4-star Markell Johnson all in spring.

Johnson told the world that he is going to be a Wolfpacker via Twitter.
Welcome to the Pack, Markell!
A 1-2 point guard tandem of Dennis Smith, Jr. and Markell Johnson sounds pretty good.
