NC State will host Navy at 7 p.m. on Friday at Doak Field in a game that will be available on ESPN3.
NC State (35-20) is #1 seed in the Raleigh Regional and Coastal Carolina (44-15) is the #2 seed. FWIW, many NCAA Baseball websites had predicted that Coastal Carolina would host its own regional. Saint Mary’s finished the regular season 33-23 and comes in as the third seed. The fourth seeded Navy Midshipmen (42-14-1) round out the field.

Unfortunately, State will take the field this post-season without starting pitcher, Ryan Williamson. Williamson announced on Friday that he has torn his UCL and will require Tommy John surgery.

If you are keeping count at home, UNC’s baseball fortunes have taken a significant turn from last decade when the Tar heels were a regular in the NCAA Tournament (and College World Series) with the help of fake classes and free grades that kept their players eligible. *Suddenly* the Tar heels are struggling and have now failed to make the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season.
So effectively, NC State's series win over UNC kept the Tar Heels out of both the ACC and NCAA tournament
