NC State has landed a commitment from New Lenox (Ill.) Lincoln Way-West offensive tackle, Justin Witt.

Witt had interest from dozens of schools and boasted offers from Pittsburgh, Syracuse, California, Kentucky, Rutgers, and others.
Witt is the third offensive lineman to commit to the Wolfpack’s 2016 recruiting class, joining 3-star recruits Harrison Gee and Joe Sculthorpe. Doeren & Co. have prioritized offensive linemen in 2016 as State lost two young linemen earlier in the week with the announcements that Tyler Ragan and TJ McCoy have both left the program. Neither player ever saw any action in their brief time in Raleigh…but, both were young offensive linemen on the depth chart.
State still in the mix for JUCO OT Ashton Julious of Lackawanna College amongst other high school offensive linemen.
N.C. State was one of the first schools to show interest in New Lenox (Ill.) Lincoln Way West 2016 offensive tackle Justin Witt.
It paid off Monday evening in a commitment from one of the Midwest’s top offensive linemen.
“It started with my freshman year Coach (Mike) Uremovich came to my school and he told me you’re a great athlete and great football player, I just want to see you get bigger and stronger because at the time I was 230, and this year I got bigger and stronger, and I’m glad he stuck to his word,” Witt said. “Not a lot of coaches do that.”
“Then I went there and visited and loved it.”
That was this past weekend. Witt chooses N.C. State over offers from the likes of California, Connecticut, Iowa State, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Syracuse. 247Sports ranks Witt as the nation’s No. 31 offensive tackle and No. 8 player in the state of Illinois regardless of position.
“The campus was absolutely beautiful and getting to meet all the coaches was really good,” Witt said. “I’m happy I got to meet the coaches and two of the coaches are from the area so that helps me a lot knowing there is an Illinois connection. Then I got to spend the weekend with a player and he was telling me about all the good things there.”
Witt is commit No. 7 for N.C. State in the class-of-2016.
