Word has been spreading today that the Wolfpack will be part of the 2015 Legends Classic.
LSU, Arizona State , Marquette, and NC State will be the four headline programs in 2015 Legends Classic, multiple sources told CBSSports.com.
Specific matchups for the event have yet to be determined.
The 2015 Legends Classic will be held at the Barclays Center on Nov. 23rd and 24th.
Quick tidbits on each team in looking at their current teams:
LSU: Coach Johnny Jones has really improved their team this year. They have good size and will get even bigger next year, with incoming freshman (and #1 HS recruit) Ben Simmons. The Tigers came close to beating Kentucky and are around a 8-10 seed this year in most NCAA brackets.
Marquette: First year coach Steve Wojciechowski is working on rebuilding the program after Buzz Williams left to go to Blacksburg. He has a good recruiting class coming in and they should be improved over this year.
Arizona State: Yes, HWSNBN will be coaching in a tournament that the Wolfpack is in. His Sun Devils are 15-13 right now are unlikely to make the NCAA tournament, although they should be in line to go to the NIT.
There will be much more information about this tournament coming in the upcoming months, especially when the matchups are announced.
If I were a betting man, I would think that ESPN will create these semifinal matchups (because it is just TOO easy for these story lines):
LSU vs. Marquette (battle of two top 5 incoming freshman)
NC State vs. Arizona State (battle of Herb’s current vs. previous employer)
Oh those story lines would be really thick.
