    It’s official now…

    The Wolfpack paid their respects to DES tonight by holding the HOLES to lowest number of points they have ever scored in a basketball game in Dean’s building.

    RIP Dean.
    Amen.

    Let the record show that THIS counselor defended the TOs in real time! Even though I was already slightly angry drunk.

    My brackets will still be shit, mind you.

    I just spent the last 15 minutes in my freezing cold garage listening to the car radio waiting for Gott to speak. He estimated they would get back into town around 11:30 and asked everybody to raise a glass in celebration around then to toast tonight’s victory.

    What the hell, I will give tonight’s “Justified” a look-see so I can do as he requests, rather than save it for my morning coffee. Well done, staff and players! Vice grip defense indeed!

    Give gott credit on the timeouts and defensive strategy. We sagged off tokoto all night and clogged up the interior. Cat was awesome on Paige.

    But gott also almost ran us into trouble subbing out for cat, not resting the bigs adequately I’m stretches. We executed 2 out of 3 game keys. Shot selection still blows. We shoulda ran them out of the gum tonight.

    Great win. Although, still somewhat concerned about how we were just standing around and dribbling the ball a lot in the second half. Don’t know if was tired legs or what. We played great defense, Cat was superb covering Paige. I do think we got a several lucky bounces and UNC was definitely not at the top of their game, but I will take it. Now we need to keep winning and not have a let down.

    I can’t say enough about the growth of Cat. He has really become the pg we need. He now knows when to push it and turn the defenders around. I am just speechless about his play. Yeah he still makes a few WTF plays but those are becoming far and few between. His confidence is there in his jump shot. He was trying to do too much there for a bit but I think he realized that he needed to look for his teammates. I think that moment coincided with the stop of the UN* run. Not saying he was the reason for their run but his play for a bit wasn’t helping in stopping it. Once he figured that out the Pack settled down and hit some big shots. Especailly when he found Turner trailing on that big three.

    Agree 1000%

    Offense did leave something to be desired, but I’ll take the poise and low turnovers. Shot selection was ‘ehh’, but otherwise they didn’t lose the game with their offensive possessions – almost though, during that run.

    I recommend staying up for the 11:30pm toast though! I already finished off my Wild Turkey, so ladykiller Fireball it is!

    I didn’t like the timeouts from a strategic standpoint (if i remember, they came before the halfway mark in the second half). But the boys came out with much more poise than they would have earlier in the season. So, all the credit to Gott and the rest of the coaching staff for whatever they said to the fellas. Also, I thought it was very BIG of Gott to sort of apologize to Cat for distracting him on that turnover where Cat was called for a walk near our bench (at least it seemed like Gott was blaming himself). Seems like they’re building a good relationship/rapport and that’s awesome for our team.

    WW .. if you don’t call those Timeouts then… there’s a pretty good chance you go from ten up to ten down rather quickly…
    and then you gott to get your team to come back from that…

    It was the right call at the right time…
    We had to take the crowd out of the game.

    Now let’s say I’m wrong…
    There nothing certain that says you gonna need those timeouts at the end of the game either…

    I never gave a damn about the timeouts either. We suck after timeouts to begin with, so why save em for the end? Get em out our system. Fine. It worked! It worked! It WORKED!!!!!!
