The NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Golf Committee announced Thursday that the North Carolina State men’s golf team will host an NCAA regional championship May 14-16, 2018. Yes, I realize that this is more than three years away from now, but it’s an honor to be chosen as one of these sites.
The Lonnie Poole Golf Course at the University Club was selected and approved by the Administrative Committee of the NCAA Division I Championships/Sports Management Cabinet to host a regional championship, along with 22 other prestigious courses across the country.
In 2009, the Wolfpack’s Matt Hill clinched the individual championship, while the Aggies from Texas A&M earned the team championship. The Pack have not yet won a national title, and the last time they won a team championship was in 1990, when they were crowned co-ACC champions.
