Garner’s Nyheim Hines picks NC State as Coach Doeren lands another 4-star recruit and successfully keeps another NCHSAA stud in the state.
What an impressive sounding young man!!
Hines picked the Wolfpack after narrowing his list to Duke, North Carolina, N.C. State, East Carolina, Georgia, Ohio State, West Virginia and Virginia Tech earlier this week on Twitter.
The four-star recruit is rated among the top 25 running backs in the nation by Scout.com. He plans to run track and field in college as well.
Hines has been praised for his versatility both as a runner and a pass receiver and is an exceptional kick returner as well, making him a potentially valuable addition to any team’s offense.
He is 11th in career rushing yardage in the state, compiling 6,844 yards during his four-year varsity career. He ran for 2,362 yards and 38 touchdowns as a senior.
After playing his freshman season at Leesville Road, Hines made his way to the top of the list of illustrious Garner running backs as the school’s leading rusher in just three seasons at the school.
Hines’ career-best individual game was a 2013 playoff win over Fayetteville Jack Britt where he ran for seven touchdowns and 454 yards on just 33 carries.
