For the most part everything is quiet on the recruiting trail but there are still some areas to cover. Johnny Frasier is still the big time name left on the board from Princeton, North Carolina. Frasier is currently a soft commit to Florida State but is considering four schools. Alabama, Duke, Florida State and NC State are the four schools he will decide between. Frasier plans to officially visit Tuscaloosa on January 16th and Raleigh on January 23rd. Nick Saban recently visited Frasier which is a big deal anytime Saban makes a personal appearance to see a player. Frasier wants to major in mechanical engineering as NC State is the perfect place for that field. If I had to project Frasier anywhere right now it would be to either NC State or Duke with State holding the edge.
With the decommitment of Austin King, NC State is currently monitoring two quarterbacks. Daniel Jones from Charlotte, NC and Jakobi Meyers from Georgia. The ideal situation would be for Wake Forest commit, Kendal Hinton to flipped to State but I highly doubt that happens. That’s all I have on the quarterback situation for right now.
After the loss of Bo Hines, the staff will evaluate three wide receivers. The departure of Hines hurts because he’s a solid football player as well as a person. NC State will definitely miss Hines next year as I hope nothing but the best for him at Yale. The three players NC State is looking at for wide receiver are Justin Smith (Dublin, Georgia), Dominique Taylor (Georgia Military), and Vernon Grier from Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte, NC. Smith is scheduled to officially visit in late January.
Defensive tackle is the last position to look for NC State to take someone. There are some names out there but it should be more clear in the future who the targets could be. Overall Coach Doeren and the staff have done a phenomenal job on the recruiting trail for #Pack15 with a couple of big time in state commits featuring: Darian Roseboro, Nyheim Hines, Emanuel McGirt and Reggie Gallaspy as hopefully Johnny Frasier will join them.
