Today Nyheim Hines finally made it official and committed to NC State. Hines picked The Wolfpack over Duke, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Ohio State, North Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Hines is the 99th rated player in the country and is the second top 100 overall rated player to join #Pack15 alongside Darian Roseboro. Nyheim and his twin sister Nyah both committed to NC State as Nyah will run track and field for The Pack. This is a huge pick-up for NC State as Coach Doeren and the staff are building a fence around the state keeping the top high school players in North Carolina at home. According to rivals.com, NC State now has four of the top thirteen players in the state and that number could soon increase to six players. Once again credit to the coaching staff for relentlessly recruiting Hines. Nyheim will join Reggie Gallaspy in the backfield but NC State could be adding Johnny Frasier in the future. If Frasier does run with The Pack, I think NC State would make a case for the best running back class in the country. Hines’ commitment is huge because it shows other top players in the state that NC State is building something special.
The next player to watch over the next couple of days is New Bern standout, Mike Hughes. Hughes will announce at New Bern High School at 11 am on Monday. NC State is currently trending for Hughes on 24/7 Sports but he is still tough to read. Hughes is currently down to Florida, North Carolina and NC State but the two teams to keep an eye on I think are Florida and NC State. Hughes grew up liking The Gators but The Pack has done a great job of recruiting him. Another New Bern player is supposed to commit on Monday as well, Sha’mond Squires which could be to either NC State or North Carolina as a preferred walk-on. Right now I like State’s shot at Hughes out of all three schools.
NC State commits Reggie Gallaspy, Darian Roseboro, Emanuel McGirt and Jarius Morehead are currently representing NC State down at The Shrine Bowl. The game takes place tomorrow in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The interesting part of this picture is former NC State target and Tennessee commit Shy Tuttle holding up The NC State sign. I think it is highly doubtful Tuttle flips to State as he is supposed to enroll early at Tennessee. All I can say is Coach Doeren is lighting it up on the recruiting trail and people will be paying close attention to NC State in the future. Go Pack.
