McGirt Commits! Football Recruiting Rolling

Just as we followed the recruitment of Darian Roseboro a little more than the average recruit (click here), we have also been covering the recruitment of a Emanual McGirt a little more than the average recruit (click here).

Well…maybe you should pay a little more attention to whom we cover in recruiting!! After the state’s best defensive player (Roseboro) committed to the Pack last month, we’ve now got the great news that McGirt has finally decided to make his allegiance public and also run with the Pack! This is big enough news for Sports Illustrated to cover (linked here):

Four-star offensive lineman recruit Emanuel McGirt has committed to N.C. State, McGirt told 247 Sports’ Ryan Bartow on Wednesday night.

McGirt selected the Wolfpack over offers from programs such as LSU, Florida and Georgia, among others. He had committed to North Carolina in June but re-opened his recruitment in early September.

The Durham, N.C., native is ranked the No. 15 offensive tackle and No. 150 overall recruit in the class of 2015 by 247 Sports.

McGirt wasn’t the only recent pick up for Coach Doeren and the Pack. State has also landed a commitment from Georgia defensive lineman, Jabari Zuniga who took an official visit to Raleigh last weekend. He reportedly had offers from Kansas State, Arkansas, Minnesota and some other schools.

We’ve got A LOT going on and being discussed here. Give us some of your time and your thoughts.

I thought I heard someone banging on a fence last night. I heard it Tuesday night to but that was way down in Georgia.

I hope these recruits “get it” like super Mario does. Didn’t know where else to post this link.

Our 2015 ranking on Scout was in the 60’s before McGirt commited. He is only our 2nd 4 star recruit. I’m happy about this but still worried. Hopefully we get some momentum going. BTW, the cheaters down the road currently have 7 4* recruits commited.

Dismiss rankings all you want but we all know how TOB’s recruiting rankings went and now we see the final outcome on the field. We don’t have the manpower to competed with top level teams.

All indications have been for weeks that we still have a couple of high profile kids on which we are VERY close!

^That is for certain. And our latest recruits are working overtime to reel them in. This is shaping up to be a very highly caliber recruiting class. After 3 years Doeren is well on his way to have a full 4 year roster loaded with good recruits, great depth, and a nice mix of freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and red shirts.

Always great to get well-regarded recruits! Welcome to the Pack Mr. McGirt and Mr. Zuniga!

With regard to nav’s observations about our neighbors over in Orange County: Sure, they’ve got seven four-star recruits now; but where will those recruits actually end up next year? Might be kind of tough to play football while sitting out “the death penalty.” (OK, I can dream can’t I?)

    Go Pack!

It’s amazing what a few wins will do when you have lots of freshman and sophomores playing. Even if most of them are against cupcakes.

Nothing reflects better than a program that shows improvement. Glad to see that coach is capitalizing on recruiting, unlike TOB. This should cause even better improvement in future years. Maybe we’ll finally get as good players as the Cheaters without having fake classes.

is this the start of the 2-and-done?
our recruits are guaranteed to start day 1.
(there’s little in their way) and, as a result,
the scouts can get a good 2-year look-see.

Great to see some recruiting success and momentum building. Program is on an upward swing no doubt! Glad these young men have decided to be true student athletes at the best public university in the Carolinas! NCSU grads have the highest average salary of the UNC System schools.

As far as UNC-CHeat, clearly some teenagers are not focused on education just football, whey else choose a program that unethical?

NCAA penalized Weber State yesterday. School reported itself. Five players caught cheating were kicked off the team. Professor involved is no longer at Weber State. Weber State issued the following statement: “Weber State operates under the philosophy that our faculty members are trustworthy and that is virtually always the case,” Hess said. “In this case, a rogue instructor did violate that trust but we want to make sure that this is a clear signal to our students and our faculty that we expect the highest ethical behavior.”

UNC-CHeat not acting like Weber State at all, instead of taking ownership and reporting itself. Fedora doesn’t know his kids majors, Roy didn’t know his bball players had no classes, and UNC has spent $2 million on a PR Firm to hide the truth. No mention of ethics on the Hill!
