I’m fired up about football today as this slate of games is SIGNIFICANTLY better than last week’s schedule as today’s games are MUCH more evenly distributed from noon to midnight for all of our viewing pleasure.
Meanwhile…down in Tampa…just how important is today’s game for NC State? Well, I kinda feel that a potential bowl bid is at stake as the Wolfpack’s schedule provides a block of ‘swing games’ that includes Wake Forest, Boston College, Syrcause, UNC-CH, Georgia Tech and South Florida. The Pack needs to win 3 of those 6 games…and, South Florida looks to be the weakest of the group. So, today’s game is as big as Brett Friedlander says:
It may only be the third week of the season, but today’s game in Tampa is shaping up to be a pivotal moment that is likely to determine the direction of the entire season for the Wolfpack. A victory would not equal State’s win total from all of last year, but at 3-0, it would also put coach Dave Doeren’s team within realistic reach of the six wins it needs to gain bowl eligibility. A loss would make that task much more difficult, especially with ACC play right around the corner. The Wolfpack is a slight favorite and this is definitely a winnable game, especially with the Bulls forced into starting a backup quarterback for the first time. But nothing has come easily for State so far this season, especially on defense, and Doeren’s team didn’t handle going on the road very well a year ago. This is a major test for quarterback Jacoby Brissett and his young teammates with a passing grade is not guaranteed.
