WRAL:
Doeren said Monday he was surprised by his team’s poor tackling in the win against Old Dominion. That means the preparation for this weekend’s trip to South Florida will include a big focus on the most basic part of playing defense.
Doeren says he was surprised by his team’s tackling in the last game after a solid performance in the opener against Georgia Southern. He says the team doesn’t have to practice tackling ballcarriers to the ground to improve, but his players must build good habits by going full speed even if they ultimately stop short of making the hit in practice.
N.C. State (2-0) has given up a combined 942 yards in its two wins.
