USA Today has released the list of total revenues and expenses for all (public, or at least those that report) NCAA programs (here).
Not surprising, Texas is atop the list, and way ahead of everyone else. Also not surprising, the top schools are all heavy football powers (Texas, Wisconsin, Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida, Oklahoma, LSU, Oregon, Tennessee). It’s good to be in the SEC and B1G: 10 of the Top 25 are from the SEC; 7 are from the B1G. Florida State is the only current ACC school in the Top 25.
The top profit margin programs: Alcorn State, Army, Alabama, Florida, Oregon, Oklahoma, Ohio State (note: Alcorn State and Army are both heavily subsidized). Comparatively, ACC schools aren’t profiting nearly as much: Florida State (7.2%) and NC State (6.4%) top the list for ACC schools (ranked 32 and 34, respectively).
Only Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio State, LSU, Nebraska, Purdue and Penn State received no subsidies. I don’t know the reason for this.
