Heading into the 2014 NFL Draft, the North Carolina State Wolfpack had the second-highest total of NFL draft picks (9) in the ACC over the last two years; only Florida State had more at 15. The Wolfpack’s nine draft picks over the last two seasons tied the most most in back-to-back years in school history with Chuck Amato’s 2006-2007 and Dick Sheridan’s 1991-1992.
Well, that streak of success is now over as NC State had only one player selected in the 2014 NFL Draft, further exemplifying the obvious talent drain that Debbie Yow observed and acted upon when she pushed Tom O’Brien from the Wolfapck’s Head Coach about 18 months ago.

With Johnson’s selection, NC State has had at least one player selected in the NFL Draft pick for 17 straight years, and 29 of the last 30 years overall.
While it wasn’t a great draft for NC State, it wasn’t a bad draft for the Atlantic Coast Conference as the league had 42 players drafted in 2014 which was second-highest in the history of the conference to 2006’s 51.
Additionally, Asa Watson and Deylan Buntyn have signed free agent contracts with the New England Patriots and Carlos Gray has signed with the Green Bay Packers. I’ve heard rumors that Rashard Smith might have signed with the Chicago Bears, but I have
