Obviously we’ve got a lot of interesting stuff in our pregame entry linked here, but I wanted to get a little more to our readers as we work our way up to the 8pm tip-off tonight at PNC Arena.
Coach Gottfried started praising Carolina the first minute after Saturday’s win in Blacksburg, and he hasn’t stopped. I like the strategy and the approach — Carolina genuinely IS the hottest team in America and are going to be very difficult to beat. But, Gottfried went so far as to use the ‘David vs Goliath’ metaphor that I don’t know if I can that far. Nonetheless, it is hilarious to see the silence of the media now that the Tar Heels are playing as one would expect a super talented team with FOUR McDonald’s All-Americans to play. Remember how Dick Vitale and others were feeling sorry for their Roy Boy earlier the year telling us all how UNTALENTED these Tar Heels were? Hmmmm…..
The following is quick interview with coach that got posted earlier today.
If State is going to succeed tonight then Kyle Washington will have continued his strong play as of late. Washington has played with renewed confidence and energy over the last couple of weeks (starting with a great performance in the Carrier Dome). Washington has averaged more than 10 points and almost 5 rebounds a game in his last four outings. Conversely, in State’s visit to Chapel Hill last month Washington, Lennard Freeman, BeeJay Anya and JVD COMBINED for ONE BASKET and a total of five points. Obviously, ALL of the Wolfpack’s post players have to do better than that tonight.
Other than Washington, if State has/needs an ‘X-Factor’ tonight then I am going to throw out the name Tyler Lewis. Opposing teams have left Lewis WAY too wide open on the perimeter and Tyler has not yet made anyone regret the decision. Perhaps the big game atmosphere and elevated focus of playing the Tar heels could translate into three or four three pointers tonight that might change the landscape of the game?
State has won four in a row at PNC Arena, but the current betting line in Las Vegas has the Wolfpack a four point underdog with an over/under total of 149.5.
All of this ‘game stuff’ is taking a backseat for many of the traditionalists who sadly learned today that Technician did NOT publish an edition of the Daily Tar Hell. When I first heard this I could not believe it was true. But, it is true…and it is a friggin travesty.
Too busy? C'mon… RT @Nic_Comp: A bit sad there's no Daily Tar Hell from the Technician. The editor told me they were too busy to do it.

@Bullard_ HELLO and Dear @TechSports – if your editor is truly "too busy" to publish a Daily Tar Hell, then Stan says you need a new editor.

Since our own students and Technician let us down, let’s turn to Twitter for a couple of poignant insights delivered with fantastic humor:

note to all state fans attending the state-unc game: for god sakes, whatever you do, don't yell "SHOOT" tonight.
