November 9 Non-Dumpster Fire Football Thread

We have to wait until 4:00 EST (ESPNU) for our weekly ass beating. Duke is a 9-10 point favourite. Duke football! The 3:30 window is loaded with sh-t games, so you won’t miss much wallowing in black humour with your SFN buddies.

Speaking of football, I promised my (mostly British) cohorts on my regular Everton message board that I would use extra “u”s in my words all week, as penance for apparently saying “the most American thing ever” in last weeks EFC/Tottenham game thread. NBC Extra Time has you (ok, just me) covered for today’s hopefully drama-free fixture with bottom feeder Crystal Palace (10:00am).

Early on, I will mostly follow two potential SEC trap games – Mizzou at Kentucky (noon, ESPNU) and Aubie at Tennessee (noon, ESPN). Hopefully, something unexpected crops up in the likely event they both crap out.

To be honest, the late window is not much better, at least volume-wise. I will probably watch Texas at West By God Virginia (7:00, Fox). This would be a nice spot for a Mack Brown team to implode, as a media-fluffed program that somehow has managed to stay unranked despite leading the Big 12ish at 5-0. But today is really all about LSU at Alabama (8:00, CBS), regularly one of my favourite games of the year. People really hit hard in this one. Pulling hard for Bama, as FSU and Roll Damn Tide is easily the best possible title matchup. And f-ck Ohio State, with their dogshit conference and even weaker schedule.

Insomniacs can enjoy UCLA at Arizona (10:00, ESPN), which will be very important in deciding who Stanford gets to pound like a veal in the Pac-12 championship game.

How much of a “FSU hangover” will Miami have? 7-7 so far. VPI over midfield after recovering a fumble.

  2. BJD95 11/09/2013 at 7:47 PM #

14-7 Hokies, and they have the ball back.

WVU has it up 9-0 on the Mack Brown farewell tour.

“oh my gosh I somehow missed this thread earlier….. is bitching and moaning permitted here as well?”

Wouldn’t be a State fan site without it.

I will not be watching any more games this year.

les miles is a little bit ridiculous

  7. Wulfpack 11/09/2013 at 8:14 PM #

Duke could very well win the Coastal. OMG.

    The Mad Hatter!!!

What does it say win Wake, Duke and UNC have more recent football success than us? Not much. Time to get busy DD.

  10. BJD95 11/09/2013 at 8:26 PM #

    LSU on the move.

For the record, I like crazy people in positions of power. The Les Miles era is like 8 years of President Biden (in full The Onion mode).

Hokies up 14 on the Canes. Duke blue liking that.

I saw that DD is second in the conference in salary. I’m not sure that he has proven to be worth the $ so far. I’m really disappointed in decision making at critical times. Only Brandon M seems to be worse in that area. Better recruit like a bandit, or he could be gone as quickly as he arrived.

Only thing I’m taking solace in is someone’s reference of Doeren to Mack Brown – when Brown was 1-10 his first 2 years.

I’m hearing good stuff on the h.s. circuit about Doeren and his staff.

Disapointed . . . that someone led this thread with Patton Oswalt. Seriously?!?!? He lost me in comedians of comedy. At least post a youtube of Between Two Ferns.

LSU flexing that Tiger muscle. So far the better team.

    Bengal Tigers 7 — Bama 3

looks like a real football game to me.

^Troll… no bitching and moaning here please… just sly references with double meanings…

  16. BJD95 11/09/2013 at 9:05 PM #

Bama strikes back! 10-7. Will we get a rare shootout between these two?

McCarron always seems to step up his game when needed. Good football player, should be a capable NFL backup.

Speaking of NFL…no way would I ever draft Manziel. His mechanics are horrid.

  17. BJD95 11/09/2013 at 9:09 PM #

And Jeremy Hill is gonna be a beast at the next level.

  18. Wulfpack 11/09/2013 at 9:10 PM #

Top QB in the college game is famous Jameis. Top pick a year from now.

  19. Wufpacker 11/09/2013 at 9:12 PM #

Hating on Patton Oswalt? This cannot be tolerated. Perhaps you have missed out on this emmy worthy show….

  20. BJD95 11/09/2013 at 9:14 PM #

As far as pro potential, I 100% agree. Great size, mechanics, and can make every throw. Seems smart, too.

Here’s my obligatory “if only we could have hired him” update.

Sonny Dykes turns 44 as his team loses by 34 to the Kiffin-less SC Trojans. The home town Bears for that were on hand lucked on in seeing not one, not two, but three punt returns for TD’s.

Can you imagine having to face J.Winston for four years??

That’s more than enough to send a bunch of GatorHoles to confession.

  23. BJD95 11/09/2013 at 9:25 PM #

I bet Muschamp’s seat getting warm. Vandy blew them out in Gainesville today, and they need to sweep their non-FSU games just to be bowl eligible.

  24. Wulfpack 11/09/2013 at 9:30 PM #

It is very warm. Florida has been a big disappointment. They cannot score and I heard they gave up at home today. That won’t sit well.

The only QB in this year’s class I would draft in first two rounds would be Aaron Murray. He could be a plus starter, though maybe not a superstar.

Bridgewater is good, but overrated. Will go way too earlt.
